The card of Mr. J. A. Walker will
be noted in another place. It is on¬
ly necessary to call the attention of
our readers to the fact that he is still
in the business to secure for him
tiieir patronage when searching for
buggies or wagons. His experience
and excellent judgement makes him
an expert and he represents work as
it is and warrants it as represented.
Nobody Like Thomas.
Such is the verdict of those who
like good goods and have once tried
this enterju-Lsing clothier. The lat¬
est styles are to lie found upon his
shelves and he sells nothing not war¬
ranted to wear. It has become a
well known fact that only the best
goods are to be obtained of him and
the demand in consequence, notwith
stan ling the proverbial small space
requisi te for line packages, has com¬
pelled him to nearly double the ca¬
pacity of his targe store room, and
this even is often crowded with the
throngs who believe there is nobody
like Thomas the clothier of West
Georgia. Give him a trial if you want
anything in the sliaj>e of gentleman’s
apparrel,from a walking cane to a
weddingsuit. He will suit you in style
prices and fit, and the goods will suit
you in durability and finish.

To pocket a napkin makes us blush

As a negro boy was driving a load

turned from the wagon with a ten

Whitesville Notes.
—Money is scarce, yet the shows
get a share of it.
—The industrious farmer is wait
ing for cotton to open.
—The health of our community is
unusually good for this season.
—Rev. Ml Owens preached his
last sermon at Whitesville last Sui .
day for the conference year 1883.
—Rev. Dr. Bartley accepted the
call to preach to the Baptists at
Whitesville 1883.
—Piney Grove spelling bee did
not die last Saturday night as was
expected, but will meet again next
Saturday night. The contest was
sharp for about two hours. We can
boast of some as good spellers as
anybody.
—One of the boys who went to
the show came home minus ajEirt of
his cheek. He says he got scared at
a black horse and ran against a wag¬
on. Fine tale, Billy.
—Mr. Tommie Hogan, we are
glad to say is able to join his many
friends again.
—We can beat Furman’s farming.
We have a young man who has made
a crop without any work. Yet he
wants to quit farming.
—We were glad to see Dixie Moss
out last Sunday. LaGrange agrees
with him.
—A Whitesvillian went to Hamil¬
ton last week and left his wagon and
team and did not miss it until he got
to the mountain on his way home.
Then he had to send back after it
What’s the matter?
—Mrs. Geo. Spence returned to
Judge Spence’s from Opelika where
she has been for several months. She
looks well notwithstanding her long
illness.
—Miss Carrie Little is gone on a
visit to relatives at Jacksonville, Fla.
—Whitesville still goes. Chas.
Mattox (col.) has bought the An¬
drews’ store, and will move it soon.
Always Complete.
The stock of first class clothing
kept by Johnson A Porter is always
full and complete. They received
only last week large shipments of
eassimeres, hats, underwear, &c The
large sales recently made by them
render this neccessarv. Two clever¬
er gentlemen were never associated
together in business and we take
pleasure in calling the attention of
their Harris county friends to their
card. If you visit the city, call on
them.

Never Tired.
On Monday of last week, Wesley
Woods, son of the Sumtei county col¬
ored giant, Willis Woods,walked from
the lower edge of Worth county, a
distance of over fifty miles, reached
his father’s home, near Americus,
about eight o'clock, ate his supper,
called the dogs and went o’possum
hunting. During his tramp he walk¬
ed twenty miles more, caught eight
o’possums, returned home, dressed
them and spent the remainder of
Tuesday in walking the streets of
Americus trying to sell them. Tues¬
day night he was ready to start on
another huut, but the old man ob
jeeted: “I’se ’fraid you’ll break de
dogs down and wear yerself out.”
“No, sir; I’se as fresh now as I was
when I started from Worf; and never
was tired in my life,"was the reply.—
