THE HAMILTON JOURNAL
J. L. Dennis,........Proprietor.
HAMILTON, GEORGIA,
March 30 , 1883 .
—— NOTICE.
A mass meeting of the democratic
party of Harris county will he held
on the first Tuesday m April, at the
court house in Hamilton to appoint
dele T ates: to the gubernatorial con
vention to meet in Atlanta on the
roth of April. T. F. Brewster,
Chm’n Dem. Ex. Com. Harris Co.
March is. ’__-r___ 1&83.
It is presumed that Georgia dem
oeracy will not afford Bullock the op
portunity to return Boynton’s con
gratulations.
Will those in the same boat as
Boynton, who sought office under
Bullock to save the country, have the
strength to save him.
Boynton to Bullock—‘‘If appoint¬
ed I shall not certainly persue a
course politically obnoxious to
those of my friends who place me in
position.” Next?
The American Agriculturist, pub¬
lished by Orange Judd & publication Co., New
York, is a very valuable
that is worth ten times its cost to any
farmer or housekeeper who will read
it. It teams with useful information
and is beautifully and profusely illus¬
trated. It is clubbed with the Jour¬
nal at $2, or will be sent by the
publishers for $1 50 a year.
The Journal has no candidate for
governor, but thinks that the letters
of Senator Boynton to Governor Bul¬
lock, soliciting office of him, congrat¬
ulating him upon his inauguration,
which must ever be considered by
honest men as the beginning of an
epoch in Georgia’s history to be la¬
mented, and promising—as the price
of the coveted boon—a course not
politically obnoxious to those whose
felonious fingers were filching from
the pockets of unborn generations
of Georgians, should eliminate him
from the gubernatorial well race. qualified There
we plenty of men as
lor the position as Mr. Boynton, victo¬ who
were leading the endeavoring democracy to make
ry, when he was to
terms with the'enemy. reward Now that
peace is declared, let us first
the heroes ’took of the fight. I.et those
who no decided stand be freely
forgiven, but discard no heroes to put
them in place.
HncceMNftil uh Ever,
A few years ago Mr. G. E. Thomas
tletcrmined to eschew the cheaper
grades of clothing, made to sell not
to wear, and to deal only in su« h
goods as he could fully recommend
to wear and fit. In this course he
lias been fully sustained by the pub¬
lic, and his sales have grown larger
fvery season. Encouraged in his
laudable undertaking, by people who
appreciate merit, his shelves and
counters are weighted with a stock of
spring clothing such as has never be
fore been seen in the city. than Special
order suits cannot fit better the
ready made suits he haa, but he has a
lull line of samples for those who tie
sire suits to order. Of gent’s fur
lushing goods and seasonable articles
be has a fuH supply, at prices such as
lease no question of doubt os to the
best being the cheapest. . hen to
complete all, Thomas has the hand
somest quartett of salesmen in the
city, who delight in helping humanity. him suit
ably beautify and adorn
A trial of Thomas proves all these
things.
They llan for the Doctor.
Borne people are always tanning for s

the doctor likes this for he g.t.Jwell paid

the soft erown of dark velvet. Other
new bonnets trimmed with npright frills

very aspiring aid defiant.
Tbs favorite Pans bonnet is the very
close capote. B auk leoe bouneta, cover¬

ranch worn. The new color in the way
of eaater bonnets is a mixture of red,
