Sliippey’s Mill Notes.
If our eyes and ears deceive us
not, Spring is here. 'I he song of
birds awake us before tired limbs are
ref exiled sufficiently for the day’s
toil. The voice of the turtle dove is
audible, and mother earth, laying
aside her sable garments and donning
her green and divers colored habili
ments, surely ’tis no deception.
Large fields and small patches of
fine oats and wheat, present a lovely
view to the eye, telling of future
plenty for man and beast.

upon us. So cheer up boys and girls

Theie is always pleasure just ahead,
as some say. but I have always found
more real pleasure in gathering scat
tered rays, than waiting for whole
days of sunshine in the future.
Cotton planting was begun by Mr.
Shippey March 31st. Others will
soon follow suit.
A neighbor says lie found some¬

bareheaded. This case was not so
bag as that of the fellow wli spoiled
his new suit in the rain and mud.

Harris County Agricultural
Association.
I( affords us much pleasure to note
the increasing interest manifested in
this organization by trie substantial !
farinas of the county. Under its j
present workings it is destined to ac¬
complish no small amount of good to
tlie agricultural, as v. ell as every oth¬
er interest in the county. At the i
last meeting, 1 >r. T. F. Brewster was
elected president. At the next meet- :
mg, on the fust Tuesday in May, the
r cunn S president, Capt. C. L. Den- I
dy, . will deliver address which will
an
m rnish the topic for discussion. Jn
accordance with the w.sli ot many of
the members the topic will piobably
be public roads. No man in the
:
county has given the subject deeper i
thought than Capt, Dendy, and should
he < house it for his theme we can
safely promise ourselves something
pregnant with practical ideas.
Successful .is liver.
A few years ago Mr. ( 1 . K. Thomas
determined clothing, to eschew mafic the cheaper |
grades of to sell not
to wear, and to deal only in such
goods as he could fully recommend
to wear and fit. In this course he
has been fully sustained by the pub¬
lic, and his sales have grown larger
every season. Encouraged in his
laudable undertaking, by people who
appreciate merit, his shelves and
counters are weighted with a stock of
spring clothing such as lias never be¬
fore been seen in the city. Special
order suits cannot fit better than the
ready made suits he has, but he has a
full line of samples for those who de¬
sire suits to order. Of gent’s fur¬
nishing goods and seasonable articles
he has a full supply, at prices such as
leave no question of doubt os to the
best being the cheapest. Then to
complete all, Thomas has the hand¬
somest quartett of salesmen in the
city, who delight in helping him suit¬
ably beautify and adorn humanity.
A trial of Thomas proves all these
things.
Attention is called to the card of
Mrs. Colvin & Miss Donnelly, which
appears in another place. So fair is
the reputation enjoyed by these la¬
dies, that it is only necessary for us
to call attention to their magnificent
display of spring goods and the won
del fully low prices at which they r:
to be sold. Only think of a stylish
hat for ten cents, and liner goods
proportionately low. (live them a
call when you go to the city.

New Life
is given by using Brown’s
Iron Bitters. I n the
Winter it strengthens and
warms the system; in the
Spring it enriches the blood
and conquers disease; in the
Summer it gives tone to the
nerves and digestive organs;
in the Fall it enables the
system to stand the shock
of sudden changes.
In no way can disease be
so surely prevented as by
keeping the system in per¬
fect condition. Brown’s
Iron Bitters ensures per¬
fect health through the
changing seasons, it disarms
the danger from impure
water and miasmatic air
and it prevents Consump¬
tion, Kidney and Liver Dis¬
ease, &c.
