The backbone of winter is broken,
but the tail still gives an occasional
wiggle. Whiting the weather of March

or early April in Georgia,
as uncertain a business as it is in
Texas. Kverything points to the
opening ot spring, when suddenly
cold winds pour down,, the winds
whistle rudely and bh/.'-ard like around

the very north pole seems to have
been planted in Harris county. '1 he
fact is one going out does not know
whether to take a fan or an overcoat,
In the rural districts when it is not
raining, we hear the persuasive “gee.
haw. come up,” of the farmer as he
furrows his fields, only stopping now
and then to bless the mule.
A good many farmers are attend¬
