Hamilton. Ga., June S. 18S3.
Local Brevities.
A very pleasant shower fell here
Sunday afternoon.
Chipley is the prettiest town of its
size in Georgia.
The nights axe still cool, though
the days are not.
Several train loads of Pine moun¬
tain rock have been carried to Col
umbus this week.
The Marshall & Stanford mill was
bought Tuesday by Mr. John Leon¬
ard, of Talbot county, for $1,050.
Last week Rev. R. M. Lockwood
placed in position two handsome pul
pit lamps, two burners each, in the
Methodist church. They were pre
seated to the church by Mrs. A.
Illges of Columbus, and cost $15.
A progressive fanner in town last
Monday said that he thought the
hope of the country is in Bermuda
vrass and oats. Plad he added Irish
potatoes we would nave agiccu with
him heartily.
One of our S. S. superintendents
thinks it almost impossible for the
people of Hamilton and Chipley not
to love each other after Saturday’s
experience, and h's many friends
hope to congratulate him at an early
day upon a practical demonstration
of the truth of his position.
Mr Hentv Fovrl is spllmcr ‘ to the
farmers , of , Ha.ms revolvimr . lia.r- ,
iaruicib 01 narris a. a revolving nar
row, that is one of the handiest and
most useful tools ever placed on a
farm. This one possesses many ad
vantages-is strong, durable and is
sold at a low price. Mr. R. G. Hood
is manufacturing them, which is a
guarantee that they will be well made
nd we advise all parties interested
to call at his shops and see them.
Last Sunday little Carrie Harris,
ten years old, repeated 84 verses
Toni the bible, her younger sister,
itssie, nine years old, repeating 52
verses, at Frog Pond Sunday school,
all of which they had committed to
memory during the week.
The Reams brothers raised last
year a watermelon vine 1,700 ieet
'■g, from which they gathered over
a .o pounds of melons. The vine
was measured p nd the statement
ucLed for by S r. J. H. C. Farr, as
viable a gentleman as Harris county
contains.
One of our S. S. superintendents,
■ widower, was heard to open a con
' rsation with a w.dow, at Chipley
Saturday, with the remark, as they
were left to themselves, that he could
now say, what he felt a delicacy in
saying when others were present. SJie
brushed and said »ay on.
Capt. L. L. Stanford circulated a
subscription list for the college last
week, and scored $100 as the result
of two days work. Only $250 more
is needed, and so svre are the trustees
of obtaining this that the building
will now be completed as speedily as
possible.
Sunday School Picnic.
Saturday morning at half past
seven o’clock about one hundred and
fifty of the good people of Hamilton
boartied a special . tram and after a
most delightful ride of thirty minutes
landed , , . in . the , happy , town of r Chipley. . ,
The Sabbath schools of that place 1
and Sulphur Springs were at the de¬
pot in full force to meet us.
A procession was formed by Grand
Vlarshal, J. VV. Gamble and marched
to the church. Here, after an ap¬
propriate song and prayer, Rev. S.
D. Clements delivered a speech of
welcome. He was responded to by
Col. Mobley in behalf of Hamilton,
and Prof. VV’. L. Palmer for White
Sulphur Springs.
The schools then marched to the
beautiful grove in the southern part
of the city, where all were soon busi
iy engaged amusing themselves.
A flying jenny was the centre of
attraction and afforded great pleas
re lor the little people.
At noon the baskets were opened
Ynd the tables spread. There was
enough for all and of the fragments
many basketfulls were gathered up.
At four o’clock the schools again
entered the church, where after the
preliminary songs, Rev. R. M. Lock
wood delivered a very interesting
ecturc.
At five o’clock the train whistle
announced a that .1 . .1 the time 4 tor our de- ,
parture was at hand, and soon the
happy Hamiltonians were all aboard,
the bell rope was pulled by Conduc
tor Holt, good byes were said, hand
kerchiefs waved, a hearty cheer given
for Chipley and her hospitality, and
away we went.
The pleasant ride home was the
crowning feature of a happily spent
day.

was tlie first preparation perfectly adapted to

natural color, growth, and youthful beauty.
It has had many imitators, but none have so
fully met nil tho requirements needful for
the proper treatment of tlie bair a-i scalp.
Hall’s IIaiii IIeneweu has stcadii^ grown
in favor, and spread its fame ard usefulness
to every quarter of the globe. Its unparal¬
leled success can bo attributed to but one
cause: the entire fulfilment of U • promises .
The proprietors have often been surprised
at the receipt of orders from remote coun¬
tries, where they bad never made in effort for
its introduction.
The use for a short time of Hall’s Hair
RunH iv hr wonderfully improves tho per¬
sonal appearance. It cleanses the scalp from
all impurities, cures all humors, fever, and
dryness, and thus prevents IxddneBs. It
st imulates tlie weakened glands, ami«.ftables
them to push forward a new and vigorous
growth. The effects of this article arc not
transient, like those of alcoholic prepara¬
tions, but remain a long time, which makes
its use a matter of economy.
