rr I • he t president, , I->r. i v 'i* I. r r. Brewster
being absent, CaPt. T. H. Kirnbrougn
was elected president. J. L. Dennis
was elected Secretary, pro tern.
Capt. C. L. Dendy, the retiring pres
ident, delivered an address on the
condition of the farmer and how it
can be bettered. He thought his
condition deplorable and tliought it
the result not of small crojis but of
small prices. The remedy is in liv¬
ing at home, practicing the closest
economy and educating themselves
and organizing themselves for protec¬
tion against speculating monopolists.
Mr. Kimbrough told of an inno¬
cent farmer wiio tried to have the
bid on a load of oits by a member
of a board oi trade raised.
Mr. Brannon endorsed the views
of Capt. Dendy and desired to know
the \i :ws of the society upon the Kay
Guano biii and Livingstone road bill,
l'roi. J. 11 . Pate thought the Kay
bill a good one if it would stop the
sale of fertilizers on time and lie
thought it would.
judge Hudson thought the guano
bill an msult to the common sense of
the farmer and tlmt the road law
could be greatly improved if the law
was enforced. No little might be ac¬
complished by going around the hills
that our fathers went over.
Capt. T. if. Kimbrough was elect
ed president for the next meeting,
TJ, C society then adjourned,
