Mrs. J dm Mobley is on a visit to
her mother in Perote, Ala.
Mrs. Wolfson has returned from
Columbus after a visit of
weeks to her sister in that city.
The weather since Friday of last
week has been spring like and .bland.
Col. James M. Mobley left for Sa¬
vannah Monday, to attend the State
Agricultural convent ion.
A continuance of this mild weath
er will bring out the unwary bud and
spring poet. Both will be nipped.
The town cistern has something
over five feet of water. This is over
four thousand gallons.
We noticed corn planting on the
plantation of Mr. T. D. Fortson, as
we passed there last Monday. He
is always in the front line in every
good movement. and high
Butter is not so scarce as
it has been, but commands 20 cents
a pound and ready sale. Eggs are
still scarce and hard to get at 20 cts.
a dozen. This is one of the results,
perhaps, of the lost oat crop.
Miss Charlotte Schley has
ed from Sparta, where she attended
the golden wedding of her uncle,
Bishop Pierce. She was
ied by her niece, Miss Sallie Howard,
who returned with her.
Miss Lula Williams has been spend
ing a week in out city, the guert of
• Miss Stelia Mitchell. Some of the
other boys have had “sunshine” and
a happy time. Come again Miss
Lula.
J udge J. F. C. Williams, Capt. C.
L. Dendy, Capt. H. C. Moss and
Mr. Reuben Mobley are in Savan¬
nah representing the farming element
of Harris in the State Agricultural
Convention now in session.

A Mad Hog-.
A hog belonging to Mr. H. T- Zu
ber showed unmistakeable signs of a
deranged intellect last week and was !
killed. Many of the neighbors were
called in to witness her strange feats.
§j ie bit and snapped at everything
within reach, would crush rocks be- ;
tween her teeth and by almost super j
human strength lifted two panels of a
'ail fence, having the bottom rail in
her mouth - The cause of her niad ‘ 1
ness is not known.
Labor-Saving Machines.
Last Saturday we witnessed the
operation of a plow drawn by four
mules that was saving the labor of
four men and doing better work than
by the common method. Mr. Clate
Hines was riding and driving, and he
seemed to be enjoying the work fine¬
ly. It is only by the use of labor
saving machines that our fanners can
reap the full reward of their labors.
The progress In this direction is slow,
but sure and certain.
In Life ami in Death United.
New Era.
In the mountain of Harris county
and near the line of Talbot lived
three brothers, Frederick, John and
Stephen 'Terry. For years they have
lived on their farms and together
have shared the visissitudes of life.
John and Frederick never married,
and they lived as bachelors together
in the same house. Stephen, the
elder, lived scarcely a stone’s throw
from the bachelor home of his broth¬
ers and raised quite a family.
These three brothers were respect¬
ively 78, 80 and 82 years of age, all
having passed the threescore and ten
years allotted to man. They were
never separated in all these years,
and were deeply and fervently at¬
tached to each other.
On Saturday, January 27th, young¬
est brother, Mr. Frederic Terry, died
aged 78. He died of what was said
to be pneumonia His brother John
who lived in the house with him, and
had for years, was sorely bereaved at
the loss of his brother, and would
not be comforted, and on Tuesday,
the 29th of J anuary, Mr. John Terry
joined his brother in death, aged 80
years. His death was said to have
been caused by grief. The remain¬
ing and eldest brother, Mr. Stephen
Terry, was now bereft of his two be¬
loved brothers and companions, and
the shock was greater than his frail
body could stand, so that on Friday
last, the 1st inst., he, too, passed
away, aged 82 years. Thus the last
of these remarkable brothers is gath¬
ered to his fathers.
In all the experiences of life we
venture to say there is not a parallel
case to this. Three brothers living to
such , and , all together . .1 and ^ all iii dy
ages
ing within a week. The attachment
in life W»S firm in death, and so long
.
faithfully had they loved each Other
that when death claimed the younger
the other two had nothing ° else to
il ve for, and under the weight of
0 grief thev, ' too, were pressed ‘ into the
grave. It is certainly a singular and
striking coincidence.

Last Sunday night a crowd cf col

all kinds of profane and blackguard
language to the annoyance of his
family and neighbors, patting and
dancing in an out house, untd they
