was unanimously elecied Chairman,
and A. E. Wilson, of Muscogee, Sec
retary.
The convention then elected W.
H. Johnson, Collector of Customs
and J. C. Beall, postmaster at La
Grange, delegates to the National
Convention, and R. F. Milner, of
Coweta and E. H. Miller ol Musco¬
gee, alternates.
The following District Executive
Committee was elected for the ensu¬
ing term of two years : T. C. Sturgis,
of Muscogee, chairman, T. S. Price,
Secretary.

Russell.
Marion—G. B. Butts.
Talbot—Alfred Douglass.
Coweta—Marshall Keller, Wrn.
Bryant.
Muscogee—Robert Williams, J.
T. Sheperd.

Carroll—E. Long, Geo. Boone.
Chattahoochee—G. W. Armor.

Rev. J. B. Jones, of Chattahoo¬
chee county, made quite an able ad¬
dress and was repeatedly applauded.
Resolutions were passed recom¬
mending the election of A. E. Buck,
C. I). Forsyth, L. M. Pleasants, and
W. A. Pledger as deli eat es at large
from the State to the National Con
ventton.
Resolutions were also passed thank
ing the custodians of the court-house,
the Odd fellows and citizens of Ham¬
ilton, white and colored for hospital
t es.
The convention marked with unu¬
sually good order and discipline, the
business for which it convened being
transacted in about one hour.

The discussion was engaged in by
Maj Hargett, Judge Hudson, Dr.
Swann, Capt. Dendy and others, the
general sentiment favoring the butt -
ing of woods annually when the sap
is down. It was interesting through¬
out.
Judge Hudson was chosen to pre
