Gleanings From the Meriweth¬ er Vindicator. Measles and whoopingcough are both invading Greenville. It is rumered that another brick¬ yard is already under way in town. The Vindicator reports a white frost Saturday and Monday morning, but little damage to vegetation. Mr. Milton Clayton, a prominent citizen of Meriwether, died recently at an advanced age. He died the death of the righteous. Blind Tom gave a concert in Greenville recently. A large num ber of the best citizens of the town . and viciaity were in the court house to hear this musical prodigy perform. Miss Lulu Hurst gave an exhibi tion of her wonderful powers in Green vil!e las vVelnesday night, She danced the heavy weight of the Vin dicator and many others over the stage, as easily as she would toss a ball. Mr. John F. Alford has fodder on hand that he pulled and cured in 1871. He lias corn enough to last him two years. His horses and mules are fat. He has an abundant supply of meat and lard on hand and a pros pect of a fine harvest of wheat. Farm ing can be made profitable when tiicrc is there is the right push and energy. No other business can ren d:ra man more independent and happy. irleanet! from The Talbotton New Era. The Talbotton jail has only two or three inmates. This is probably part due to prohibition. Blind Tom gave a concert at Lc Vert College Thursday night. The Talbotton baseballist are mourning because they have been defeated in two games by the college boys of that place. The COUnty agriC»ltUral Society met Tuesday and discussed terracing and hillside ditching. Farmers are busy getting in their crops. The editor complains that the merchants show no appreciation of the New Era because they do not ad¬ vertise. Other county japeis have the same cause for grievance. Col A. J. Riddle, who has been taking photographs in Talbotton for the last five months, has gone away. Even the smallest pigs are prevent ed from running at large in the streets •( Talbotton. They are taken up and put in the stock pound. Mr. T. H. Persons will enter the dry goods trade next fall in a store next to W. J. Weekes. m. The recent . protracted . . j meetings is • said to have resulted in great good to all who attended. The Lulu Hurst performance on Saturday night was largely attended, and the usual amount of fun cd from it. The directors of the Talbot Stock and Fair Association met re cently and decided to bold a fair next October. The resources ol Talbot agricultural and otherwise, allow of such an enterprise and they expect to make a grand exhibit next fall. The Dangerous Seasons. Spring and fall are times when so many people get sick. The changes in the weather arc severe on feeble persons, and even those naturalh strong are apt, as ^titey say, to lie co“dftS to be muck'down w ith some kind >f fever. A bottle or two of Parker’s Tonid will orate the digestion, put the liver, j ney and btood in perfect orccr, i prevent more serious attacks. Why suffer, and perhaps die, when so sim j pie a medicine will save you? Good for both sexes and all ages. Box and Jar Snuff, the genuine P.
