A full length “state” portrait of Queen Victoria is about to be paint¬ ed at Windsor by Professor Angel!, the court painter at Vienna. A Medical journal notes that while one eminent writer has asserted that those who smoke tobacco grow brain¬ less as lizards, two German savants have arrived at the conclusion that smoking is nothing at all except watching the smoke. A Cincinnati lawyer a few days ago jumped into one of the hearses that pass in that city f<>r cabs, and asked to be hurriedly driven to the depot. One or two jolts on the rough pave¬ ment resulted in the flooring of the vehicle giving away and half the fare’s body descended through the ruin to the ground. The passenger’s yells to the driver to stop were unheard, on account of the noise made by the old trap, but he managed by working his legs at a lively rate to keep pace with the spavined horse. When the depot was reached the cab had to be lifted from the ground to allow the impris¬ oned lawyer to slip through. “What do th^y do when they install a minister?” inquired a small boy, “do they put him in a stall and feed him?” “Not a bit,” said his father; “they harness him to the church and expect him to draw it alone.” * ♦ Ayue-Sli a ken Sufferers Who resort to Hostetcer’fStomacb Bitters exposituco speedier and mure completo relief than they oin hope to do by the use of quinine.
