AN Ordinance to provide for the repair of wharf lohs aud the erection of suitable pavements in the City of Earien. Sec. 1. Be it ordained that within —months af ter notice is given, as heretofore prescribed, it shall be the duty of ail owners of wharves and wharf lots, in the city of Larien, to place and keep and wharv ‘ at Oiejexpeuse of their respective good order, so as to prevent ibbish from washing into the river, urrough or from said respective wharves and lots in conformity with instructions of the City Surueyor of said city, who shall give his attention whenever notified so to do. Sec. 2. Be it further ordaiued, that it shall bo tbe duty of the owners of all improved lots in the Cityoi Darien, to contract and keep in repair at the expence of the owners of each lot respectively upon Broad street, from Walker’s store, at the h ad of said street on both sides of said street to Eppiugs’ old office, pavements of brick or smooth stone of— feet in width, well aud substantially laid, and upon all other streets iu said city it shall be the duty of each owner of an improved lot to place down iu front thereof in a substantial and workmanlike manner a pavement, of wood, of the width feet and each person, the owner of such lot or lots, shall iu putting down the pavements bereiutofore required be bound to conform to the levels and inclinations marked aud prescribed by tbe city surveyor, whose duty it shall be to grade and stake down the place to be paved both on the lice of the lots and the limits hereintoiore deter mined on the str et. driving a stake at every 10 feet of the liue and the said Burveror shall attend within 5 days after he is requested to do so. Be it further ordained that in addition to the penalties prescribed in the preceediug sec tion upon the failure or refusal of any wharf own er or owners tojmt his or their wharf or wharves in good order, or on like, failure or refusal of the owner or owners of any improved lot or lots to construct and keep in repair suitable pavements in fronts ofsnch lot or lots of the character here tofore prov ded for, it shall be the duty of the marshall to give thirty days notice in writing to all such diligent wharf or lot owners, requiring him or them to put in repair their wharf or wharves or to pave in front of his or their im proved lot or lots which notice shall be served personally, but it such sSrvice shall be impossible by r< ason of noipresidence ol the person or per sons to whom the same is directed, then it shall be his duty to publish said notice for thirty days, in the newspaper in which the city advertising is done and after the expiration of said notice it sha 11 be the duty of the Chairman of the Board: of County Commissioners, as Mayor of said city,, to require the Marshall thereof to enter upon and put in order or pave and put in repair the proper ty of such delinquent wharf or lot owner in the niamier heretofore prescribed at his or their ex pen e, and in the name and behalf of the city au thorities of Darien, to bring an action at law against the owner or owners of tbe property so repaired as aforesaid. CITY OF DARIEN, March 24th 1880. rjlO TIIE DOBOY AND SAPELO PILOTS, CAP -1 tains of vessels, and sti am tow-boats—On and after the Ist ol April and until the Ist of November, 1880, all vessels both foreign and coastwise, ar riving at this port must be inspected before land ing freight or passengers or proceeding to their loading births and pilots will ilispcso of them as follows: Vessels having no sickness on board.no burials on the passage, will be anchored as near th ■ yellow flag opposite the quarantine official sta tion as may be safe and convenient. The Pilot will notifiv the oflicer who will board and inspect, her. Captains ol vessels coming in without a pilot will report to the officer inimediatly on his arri val: this ordei applies to all vessels, both foreign and coastwise, except the following portß, (always suspected), Havana and all ports and bays of the West Indies and South American piorts or bays and rivers, such vessels must be taken to the up per quarantine: one mile up Carnoehran river from the inner bouy in sale anchorage near thy southern shoals to be cleansed,fumigated and dis infected before proceeding. 7he vessel will delay but a few days. Pilots are cautioned against ves sels reporting themselves from a neighboring port where they have only touched, but were last from an infected port. Any vessel from any port infected or otherwise,as she might have communi cated at sea having fever on board, must proceed: at once to the Caspian or lower qurantine under the lead oi the pilot boat, and the. pilot will report the same to the quarantine, Doboy station officer, The Port Physician will regularly enforce our quarantine rules and will promptly report all viola tions. LENGTH OF BRIDGE ACROSS CAP-SIX 1.8 TO 80 feet, foot of bridge to he two feet above high spring tide mark; centre of bridge to he three feet above high spring tide mark with a gradual rise from each foot: bridge to have five (5) spans of equal'length: all the frame of bridge to be of tho best heart cypress, namely, piles 10x10 inches,cap sills 10x10 inches and 21 feet long, stringers 6xlo inches and to extend three feet beyond the cap sills of the abutment; braces to be 4x6 inches; banisters, banister posts aud braces to be 4x5 in ches; abutment on Mclntosh county side to bo made of good yellow pine (not yellow slash pine); wings 16 feet long anil 10x10 inches square: floor ing to he 16. feet ling, flinches thick and of tho very liest heart pine. All the timber to be used in building the South Newport bridge must be of the best material and alter it has been hauled to the place designated, the County Commissioners of Liberty and Mclntosh counties are to be notified ns to inspect the tinD -r before it is framed.
