HOME JOURNAL. PHIDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1886. PEN AND SCISSORS 8 ERVNG UP EOT A SORT OP ATOMIC HASH. AND SPICING IT HERE AND THERE WITH A SMATTER OF HUMOR OR A SMACK OF SATIRE. —The early buckwheat cake catches the country sausage. —lt is estimated that 18,000.000 pairs of boots and shoes are annually manufac tured in prisons. —A ‘‘school” of whales numbering one hundred and thirty were driven ashore and captured in Garth Bay, Westray, one of the Orkney Islands, a few days age. —Buffalo is going to have a tremendous clock. The dials will be twenty-five feet in diameter, three hundred and sixty one feet above the street and lighted by elec tricity. * —California lias the youngest telegraph operator, it is believed in the country. She is Miss Nellie Welch, eleven years of age, and she has full charge of the office at Point Arena. —lt is funny the way Americans have of doing things. If a white man in Ari zona steals a coat he is banged. If an In dian scalps a white man he is sent to Flor ida to gather oranges. —Thomas Wilkinson, of Adrian, Mich., has a full beard that reaches to bis feet. It is six feet loug and is still growing. He can tic his mustache in a double bow-knot at the back of his head. —lt is suggested that petroleum frozen nto the shape of bricks can be utilized as fuel for steam vessels, and carried in much smaller space than would- be required for coal as now used for the same purpose. —Mr. Abraham Emerson, of Canada, re cently celebrated his eighty-sixth birthday by digging forty bushels of potatoes in seven hours. The spunky old gentleman was a member of the Ohio Senate in 1846. —White huckleberries were offered for sale in Norwich, Conn., lately. They are said to grow In only two places in Connec ticut—a round hillock in a big swamp in Salem and a similar place at Spring Hill, In Windham county. —Dr. Andries estimates that the peril from lightning is from three to fivefold greater than it was fifty years ago, owing to the vastly increased electrical intensity induced by the charging of the atmosphere with steam and smoke at all centres of pop ulation. —A few mouths ago while Mrs. Mary At kins, a young matron of Salmon Palls, N. H., was horseback riding, the straps of the sad dle gave way and she was thrown, injuring her spine. She now sues the man who sold her the saddle, alleging that it was defective and claiming five thousand dol lars damages. BILE BEANS! "What a funny name for a medicine! Nevertheless it is very significant as applied to the article. Bile, according to Webster, is “ a yel lowish bitter, viscid nausceous fluid, secreted by the liver.” Whenever the liver does not act properly this fluid is retained in the blood and poisons the whole system, and sallowness and misery is the result. SMITH’S BILE BEANS is a sure cure for biliousness and liver complaint. Price, 25 cents per bottle. BLOOD AND MONEY. The blood of man has much to do in shap ing his actions during his pilgrimage through this troublesome world, regardless of the amount of present or expectant money in pocket or stored away in bank. It is a conceded fact that we appear as our blood makes us, and the purer the blood, the hap pier, healthier, prettier and wiser we are; hence the oft-repeated interrogatory, “how is your blood?” With pure streams of life giving fluid running through our hearts and ploughmg through our physical frames our morals become belter, our constitution stronger, our intellectual faculties more acute and grander, and men, women and children happier, healthier and more lovely. The unprecedented demand, the unpar ralleled curative powers, and the unmistak able proof from those of unimpeachable char acter aDd integrity, point with an unerring finger to B.B.B.—Botanic Blood Balm—as far the best, the cheapest, the quickest and the grandest and most powerful blood rem edy ever before known to mortal man, in the relief and positive cure of Scrofula, Rheumatism, skin diseases, all taints of blood poison, Kidney complaints, old ul cers and sores, cancers, catarrh, etc. 8.8.8. is only about three years old— a baby in age, a giant in power—but no remedy in America can make or ever has made such a wonderful showing in its mag ical powers in curing and entirely eradicat ing the above complaints, and of gigantic sales in the face of frenzied opposition and would-be monopolists. Letters from all points where introduced are pouring in upon us, speaking in its .oudest praise. Some say they receive more benefit from one bottle of B. 8.8. than they have found from twenry to tnirty and fifty and even one hundred bottles of a boasted decoction of inert and non-med lcinal roots and branches of common forest trees. We hold the proof in black and white, and we also hold the fort. All who desire full information about the cause and cure of Blood Poisons, Scrofula, Scrofulous Swellings, l leers, Sores, Rheumatism, Kidney Complaints, Catarrh, etc., can secure by mail tree, a copy of our 32-page Illustrated Book of Wonders, filled with the most wonderful and startling proof ever before known.
