along the shore, owing to a threatened riot
among the sailors, growing out of the ‘no ad
vance movement*.’ An attempt was made by
the sailor landlords to prevent the crew of the
K. I’. Sriugcr from going on board that ship.

Trouble is threatened also in the street com-
sioners’ ofiTict. dodge Davis has vacated the
writ certiorari, and the Governor's appointee,
Conover, is in possession. A large force of
police have been detailed to gnard the prem
