All was quiet in Nicaragua. The Senate
adheres to the transit contract and the treaty
proposed by Mora on behalf of Costa Rica.
Two hundred and fifty of Walker's men
were at Ursjtown in a destitute condition.
A force of 200 Costa Ricans occupy Grey-
town. '
Wp». Cary Joues, U. S. Commissioner was
at Son Jose on the 26th duly.
A correspondent at San Jose says the right
of way for tho Nicaragua trausit Las been given
to N. C. Webster and J. C. Harris.
A treaty between Chili and Costa Rica lias

again and will probably be' adopted.
A band of fifteen disaffected Chippewa In
dians are plundering the settlers on the Nort h
of St. Paul's.

St. Louis, August 12.
Fort Laramie dates of the 22d July hare
been received. Col. Stunner had arrived at
Bent’s Fovt, and would leave on the 12th lost,
for the head waters of the Arkansan, in pur
suit of the Cheyennes.
The California trains passed Laramie iu good
health, fifagaw’s wagon road train was at
Fort Kearney. Col. Alexander’s regiment,
Spencer's battery for Utah, met the two twen
ty five miles West of Leavenworth.
Another regiment was at Rock Creek, Itept
Van Vliet at the Cotton Woods, an<J Reno's
battery at the Big Blue. The Cheyennes wore
scattered along the entire route'between Forts
I tramie and Kearney. Hat little damage was
done to the train, the Indians fearing to attack
large parties. War had again broken out be
tween the Crqws and Sioux.
Several surveying parties were seen on the
route. 'Nothing further had been heard of the
murders reported last week.

was in a minority of sixty on a division for a
second rending of the superannuation bill, a

ried.
Lord Palmerston said the government would
offer no further opposition.
Fourteen horses ran for the Goodwood cap.
The American horses wore fifth and sixth. The
first favorite an 1 two other horses fell so heavi
ly that the race can hardly be regarded as a
criterion.
The Empcrior and Empress of France wer e
expected at the Isle of Wight on the 5th.
The government intends to send ten thoq.

The Bombay Timet says the rebellion is
universal in the Bengal army, and even the
seventh native infantry, which had been pub •
licly thanked three wcekB before for loyality,
hud been disarmed.
The Madras army manifested the most per
fect loyality. A list bad been given of 56
regiments, or portions of regiments, which had
mutinied, while 20 were disarmed and one dis
banded. The Bengal army had ceased to ex
ist. ’
