Medical tenttmony cannot be controverted.—One Of tho most startling case* ia narrated of Dr. tt’Lane'a Vermifuge by Dr John Butler, of Lowell, Trumbull co., Ohio- Thecas* waa that of a young laJy who had been eery tick lot eight yeara, «rnl bail conaulted a number of physicians, who had treated itae one of Prolapaua Uteri. Dr. Hut ler waa then calledjin, and for a time believed with hie pfeJeccaaoia that it waa a case of Prolapaua. Ho waa, however, soon forced-to tho conclusion that hia patient waa aullering from worms, and after much persuasion pre vailed upon harto tako two dusea of Dr.M-’ Lane’s Vermifuge, prepared by Fleming Bros, of Pittsburg. This medicine had tho ellbct of removing from her a countless number of the largest die. Her Majesty reviewed yesterday, the thirty fourth and forty second regiments, previous to their dejiartwe for India. Advices had reached London from I’ere nambueo and Rio Janeiro, to tiie 10th of July. Great excitement existed at the latter port, owing to he murder of the English Vice Consul. Thomas Gillau, a Portuguese, hud been arrested, suspected as being the assas sin. Sugar maintain'd high prices. Coffee at Rio had advanced 100 reals—the new crop being small. The supplies of flour were limited. St. Louis, Aug. 17. Eighty counties have bean heard from offi cially. It will require full returns of the re maining counties to determine the result for Governor. Rollins, American, and Stewart, Democrat, are nearly equal iu number of votes so far. Washington, Aug. lb. There is no doubt of the re-election of Bird B Chapman, as delegate to Congress from Nebraska. New Yotk, Aug. 18. The steamship Tennessee lias arrived with the rest of Walker’s Nicaraguan army. Halifax, N. C., Aug. 16. The sheriffhas just arrived here Irom Ral eigh, N. C., with the official returns of the recent elections .showing nmajnrity for Shaw of thirty eight votes. Baltimore, Aug. IG. An explosion took place at the City Gas Works this afternoon. The roof the purifying house was blown off Two men were injured. None were killed. Nt. Lot ts, attg. ,15 Advices from Fort Kearney state that a party of nineteen drovers, in charge of up wards of 1,800 cattle, destined to the Utah expedition, wero attacked when twenty- seven miles above the Fort, on the 1st inst., by 250 Cheyenne Indians. All the cattle and twenty mules ran off— One of the drovers was killed and another severely wounded. None of the Indians were slain. Col. Sumner had started in pttr- suit’of the Indians.
