There is a class of persons in most school | districts who ure find fault with the teacher They are general ly too crude and ignorant to know or cure any thing about his methods of instruction, but om ly let a pecuniary orabarrosment cross hi? way, or 'et his moral reputation be m jeopardy from any calamity or unavoidable occurrence, and these watchers immediately turn buzzing gos- sipers.and repeat, with a waspish monotony, “1 told you so;" "Just as l expected." If the teacher is ten minutes behind time in tho morning by their clock, lie “is an hour too late." If he teaches them twenty minutes af ter the time for dismissal in the evening that is no oflense. True, evety teacher should make it outo^joict to boas punctual as the snn himself, but it is hard to keep true time and the inaccurute and varying time of every clock in the district, at the same time. The teacher, however, must learn to bear all Ha se fault findings aud cuffing, and endeavor to treat with calmness and rrsp-et all his mmi- iesa critics 1 This is easily done. Let him keep a continuedfyresence of mind an! don, near right us ho can. Let him treat all children with equal lorbearanec, aud be always cheer ful aud composed’ Let not sych trifles in the least raffle the temper or deaden his iuteresls. The teacher's task is arduous enough and can only be successfully performed by attentive study and perseveradee. Ooc thing is consoling : the teacher Hint is •blowed up" by such brazes, generally has an old trick of staying up. The ccasurcsof the ignorant andgaiusaying cannot,in the least,in- jure the devoted teacher in the successful dis charge of his duties, touch insinuations, arising from such a source, take a decided turn iu fa vor of the intended victim, and recommend him to a discriminating community,—School Pititor, City, by means paper medium:,.
