Democrats, in this county, who want of

There is, in this county, an Irish

and mode a very unbecoming speech.—
All wo have to say is, we know of some
promises he has made and unless he keeps

We are told there is tronble iu
the Radical camp in this county. Elbert

of the white Radicals want, consequently
they are trying to choke him off. Go

This Lodge is now iu a successful and
flourishing condition. Daring the past
term between forty and fifty initiates have
enlisted in the noble work, and numer-
friends are only waiting opportunity
to enroll themselves under the banner of
Temperance, Truth and Charity. If on
ly we remain to our principles earnest and
true, the great evil which now blights our
fair city will soon be abated. The good
of society demands this. The moral law
prohibits what is wrong, and crime, and
drunkenness, and the evils which curse
our beloved town are engendered and
fostered by spirituous liquors, tlieir sale
and use. We invite all who desire to rid
the city of these evils f o come up and join
us. To compromise in the matter is de
ceitful and baneful, and to none more so,
than ho who attempts it There is no
middle ground on which to stand, and yon
must either come out on the side of Tem
perance and God, or acknowledgo fealty

Goods, clothing Ac. that B. Emanuel &
Bros., ate offering for sale this fait
When this firm claims, wliiehlboy
boldly do, that their facilities for buying
goods are superior for several reasons
that of the majority of merchants in this
whole section of country, they do so upon
strong grounds. They have three ex
tensive establishments, which enables
them to buy their goods iu large quanti
ties from manufacturers and importers of
the goods, instead of passing through
the hands of jobbers (the nsuol way) who
charge a profit, which the consumer has
to pay at last, in addition to this,
the firm remains in New York the entire
season, spring and. fall—and every
who has given the subject the sl ghteat
attention, must have learned that many
goods can be bought both before and
after the rush of the merchants, from 10
to 25 per. cent lower then—and often
the difference is even greater. This firm
enjoys some other advantages, also, but
every point in their favor. They are
willing to, if not to give away, to their
customers—cheerfully to share with
them.
We again call special attention to the
stock of .Dry Goods Clothing, Hats
Shoes Ate., that they are offering for sale
this fall—their styles arc excellent, their
prices moderate, their dealing fair and
above board.
Be certain to see Emanuel’s stock be
fore you buy anywhere; if you don’t
you’ll miss it. nov 4 tf

Messrs. Editors : The recent outrage
perpetrated in the peace of the State, by
an officer of the peace department of the
city on the Senior Editor of your paper
has called forth many conversations
among the old citizens of your town, and
it has been suggested that a meeting of
