whose intelligence and education ought

State has no right to tax anybody f
education of other people’s children. The
old bachelor, who has wasted his sweet-
nees upon the desert air, relinquishes
under sulphurous protest, the mite ex
acted of him by the local law for the
support of the common schools. The

having to edacate with his 6wn, other
people’s children. Now, tbe State has
this right to levy taxes for the educa
tion of the masses; and it is the inde
feasible right of self-preservation. The
State by its laws and .its 'restraints
