lYtday Morning, .Yor.
WATCHING.
When the hand of the artist Morning
Painted the skies a-gleam,
She turned on her cot; “He will come, 1
she thought, _ K
And wove it into n dream;
And her fair face flushed in her slumber
As she dreamed of a kiss, love-warm,
But while she slept on the artist crept,
And painted the skies for a storm**, w
** ti;- ■ •
She rose from her snow white pillow,
And^turned to the window Pane,
Where beat and beat, like fairies’ feet,
The pattciing props of rain,
And brow of the maid reflected
The clouds that hung heavy and gray.
And she covered her head, “Alas” she
said,
“For he cannot come to day.”
But all through the murky morning
And all throught the lowering noon,
From her lattice-par e she watched the
min,
And said “It will cl«r off soon!”
But the clouds dropp.d lower,
And*the rain fell hard and fast.
And her heart like lead sank down
she said,
“It will clear not, first or last.”
But scarce had she ceased her watching,
When her heart stands still at a siund.
Not the rain on the ro of but a h tree’s
hoofs.
Beating npon the ground.
And full in the face ol the tempest
Her lover rides swift and near,
And he draweth rein at her lattice-pane,
And !i:s laugh rings loud and clear.
The coal black wings of the raven
Would pale if Isis lock were night,
And a sweet unrest stirs the maiden's
breast
At a glance of his sloe-black eye
And she hides her face on his bosom.
Not heeding the drops of rain,
An«l her checks flush over nt the kiss of
her lover,
And she weeps in her wild sweet
paiu.
Ho, ho to you ! baffled Tempest'.
You aro cheated and outdone.
Aye. howl and clatter, what docs it matter
To the hearts that beat as one?
Or what to the stee 1 that galloped,
In the face of the wind and rain?
For, housed and warm from the driving

There is a fancy nt present for vari-

of moderate means, ns a long round
boa and muff costs from twenty-five

are new this winter. This is a finer,
silkier, more lustrous fur than black
marten, is entirely without odor, and

This Gigantic Enterprise which has been, at a Vast Expenditure of Time and Money, thoroughly Reorganized and
Equipped for the present traveling season, presents the Startling, Novel, Unique and Colossal Spectacle never before
witnessed in the annals of amusement enterprise either in this or any other age, of
TWELVE SUPERIOR SHOWS IN ONE, ALL FOR A SINGLE PRICE OF ADDMISSION.
In the Collection and Organization of the Museum the utmost care has been taken to gratify and enlighten the pub
lic by presenting in One Vast Assemblage an accumulation such as has never been attempted or dreamed of by the
combined tact, talent and liberality of all other managers in America or Europe. It may be interesting for the public
to understand that for nearly Two Years Mr. ROBINSON’S NUMEROUS AGENTS, who are found in almost
Every Part of the World, have been actively employed in Procuring Curiosities for bis GREAT TRAVELING
SHOW. Some of these were put on exhibition for the First Time Last Year; but they have been ve»r largely sqE
plemeuted for the present season by New Accessions and Consignments brought by almost every. Steamer frt m Foe
eigh Ports which has arrived in New York for the past eight months. As an illustration of the Indomitable Eneigy
of the well known Proprietor of this establishment, it may be well to remark that the Exhaustless Resources of Europe,
Asia, Africa and America, with the subdivisions of China, Japan, Australia, the Polar Regions, South Sea Island*,
Arabia, Turkey, Siam, (Jircusia* Egypt, the Pacific, Arctic, Indian and Atlantic Oceans, together with the Red Sea
and Holy Land, have all been levied upon, contributing to swell the aggregate of This Single Department, which,
after all, constitutes but a moiety of all that may be seen.
It is estimated that in the AL'QUARIUM, MUSEUM, MENAGERIE and CARAVAN, there are
TWENTY THOUSAND CURIOSITIES.
This Stupendous t’onhiuation has been brought together at au actual cost to the Proprietor of MORE THAN A MIL
LION OF DOLLARS ; which is ten times more than was ever invested in a single Show. The curiosities of the
several departments represent the choicest excerpts from the realms of Zoology, Ornithology,. Geology, Ichthyology,
Conchology, Entomology, Anthropology, Mechanics, Numismatics, Science, Statuary, Oil Paintings, and many rare and
exquisite productions of the Autamatic and Heliographic Arts, and so classified for this G RE AT EXHIBITION, as to chal
lenge the admiration not only of Naturalists, but of Poets, Statesmen, Philosophers and Divines.
Parents, Sabbath and Public School Teachers should bear in mind that No Public Pxhibition ever instituted in
America afforded a Tithe of the Practical Lessons of Intuition which are found in this Unique Exposition of Object
Teaching. ... ■
To this vast array is added, in a Separate Colossal Tent, capable of holding Ten Thousand People,
A MAGNIFICENT ROMAN HIPPODOME AND CIRCUS,
With One Hundred Horses, Ponies, Camels, Mules, Riding Dogs, Monkeys, Trick Horses, Elephants, and Fifty of the
Best Male and Female Artists in the World,
If traveling by wagons would-require the actual services of nearly TWO THOUSAND MEN AND HORSES. If
is furthermore confidently believed by those most competent to judge, while the management are very emphatic in tk
statement that, taken in the aggregate, JOHN ROBINSON’S WORLD’S FAIR has more real and solid attractiiv.
merit and value, with a Greater Variety of Marvelous Features than is usually contained in TWENTY ORDINARY
shows. ; :
In order that the Public may be able to form an approximate conception of the magnitude of this concern, *
volunteer the statement that—-which will be qualified at any time—the daily expenses attending JOHN ROBINSOV*
EXHIBITION are Three Times More than the Gross Receipts of any of the self-styled first-class shows in America.
It is, therefore, with no ordinary degree of confidence that.the management announces that these TWELVE GREAT
SHOWS, FOR ONLY ONE PRICE OF ADMIISSION, are positively the LARGEST EVER SEEN ON
EARTH. '
