[ A member of the staff of the lamented | Major General Oieburne, writing from Co lumbia, Term., to a friend in this city, gives the following account of his burial; Mobile Register. 1 had his remains brought to this place and buried at Ashwood, sis miles distant, the private graveyard of the Polk family, I met with great kindness from the people here in the performance of my duty. His f coffin was strewn with flowers by the ladies, ; and the following beautiful line&, written by { Miss H., were sealed upon it: “ Fare thee well, departed chieftain 1 .
