RESOLUTIONS
Passed by the Blakely Methodist
Sunday School on the Death of
Vida Gaire Davis.
A few days ago we were called
upon to mourn the loss of one
of the loved ones entrusted to
our care. Little Vida Claire, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W.
Davis, was born August 15, 1893,
and died on March 4, 1903.
Though young in years, it may be
truly said of her that she loved
everything and everybody. She
loved the Sunday School, its song 6,
its pupils, its devotions and her
teacher. But most of all she loved
the blessed Savior because He had
first loved her. The tender and
frail body was called upon to en
durefmany sufferings, yet the pure
soul 6hed ajhalo of loveliness over
her bright countenance and scat
tered rays of sunshine over those
who came within her acquaintance.
Alljthejchildren loved her and did
what they could to lighten her
burdens, burdens which she did not
•eem'to feel.
loving and affectionate,
open and tender hearted disposi
tion, and her implicit faith in the
love and goodness of God, she
wielded an influence for good not
only over her classmates but over
others with whom she came in
contact. The conductors and en
gineers have enquired for their dear
little girl who used to wave and
smile as they passed.
While the aged must by maturi
ty of years be gathered to their fa
ther, yet sometimes the young and
tender are taken also. Surely God
wants some flowers in his Kingdom
as well as the ripened fruit.
In view of such a life and such
an example, it resolved,
1. That we, the Blakely Metho
dist Sunday School, mourn the loss
of Vida, who was dear to us all.
2. That we commend her life to
others as worthy of emulation.
3. That we extend our sympa
thy to the bereaved parents and
their family in this their so great
affliction.
4. That a copy of these resolu
tions be spread upon the records of
the Sunday School, that a copy be
sent to the parents of the deceased,
t
and that they be published in the
county papers.
Respectfully submitted,
Miss Sallie Strickland,
Mrs. Susie Verner Budd,
A. G. Seay,
Committee.
