No Lawyer Had a Hand in It.
In our issue of April gth, com
menting on an article that recently
appeared in the Wesleyan Chris
tian Advocate concerning the Su
preme Court decision in the Ar
lington dispensary case, in which
Judge Sheffield was severely roast
ed by the Advocate, we said :
An interesting feature of the
matter is the belief expressed in
many quarters that the article was
not written by the editor of the
Advocate, who is a prominent min
ister but by a certain defeated pol
itician, who is a prominent lawyer
and who missed Judge Sheffield’s
support in a recent State election.
We learn that Dr. Lovett, editor
of the Advocate, claims the author
ship of the article in question and
that it was not written, dictated
nor inspired by any lawyer or pol
itician.
We publish this not for the pur
pose of retracting anything we
said in defence of Judge Sheffield,
but for the purpose of giving the
editor of the Advocate full credit
for the article and exonerating the
lawyer who was suspected of hav
ing a hand in its preparation.

Robbed the Grave.
A startling incident, is narrated
by John Oliver of Philadelphia, as
follows : “I was in an awful con

low, eyes sunken, tongue coated,
pain continually in back and sides,
no appetite, growing weaker day
by day. Three physicans had
given me up. Then I was advised
to use Electric Bitters ; to my great
joy, the first bottle made a decided
improvement. I continued their
use for three weeks, and am now a
well man. I know they robbed
the grave of another victim.” No
