Sunday. They will attract any fel
low’s attention, or will mine any
way.
We learn that the wedding bells
will soon ring in this community.

I was very sorry to see that girl
go to the field to plow the other day,
hut was still sorrier when it rained
us out.
Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Bryant, of
Fort Gaines, visited relatives and
friends at this place Saturday and
Sunday last.
Several men from this place went
down on the river fishing one night
last week, and caught a nice lot of
fish. It makes the boys think about
going fishing.
Judge Worrill called in more of the
Hoiks from this section this week.
We hone he will not scare them too
much, because we want them to help
make this crop.
It seems that the wild turkeys (or
tame ones) would have a had show
ing to make a living up in here from
the way the fellows have been get
ting up and going off before daylight
every morning.
A large crowd of boys met at this
place on Saturday last and organized
;heir base ball team, with Mr. F. M.
Hobbs as Captain, and Julius Cain
ns Secretary and Treasurer. We hope
that all the boys who are going to
play ball this year up here will meet
us at Mr. F. M. Hobbs’ next Saturday
afternoon.

night and Tuesday with Mr. Rufus
Brunson.
Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Taylor spent

und everybody has enjoyed them

Messrs. Vester Blackburn and Bob

son spent Sunday with their mother,
Mrs. Sam Landrum.
Mrs. Genie Brunson has returned
home after a two weeks visit with
Mrs. R. L. Swann.
Messrs. Willie and Persis Alexan
der went to Freeman's Chapel to the
egg pipping Saturday night.
Messrs. Rufus and Swann Brunson
and John Shelton Anderson spent
Sunday with Mr. George Alexander.
Mr. and Mrs. C. I. Taylor went up
to Calhoun county last Thursday to
visit the former’s father and mother.
Mrs. Cranford Swann got a tele
gram Saturday morning to go to Col
quitt, as her sister-in-law was dying.
Miss Annie Lee Anglin spent from
Thursday until Saturday afternoon
with Mesdames J. W. and Crawford
Swann.
Mr. Aiken 1 gram went up to Clay
and Randolph counties Friday to vis
it relatives and friends, returning
home Sunday night.
Miss Alma Landrum and brother,
Barnie. called on their sisters, Mes
dames R. H. and J. S. Brunson, on
Saturday afternoon.
Wonder how two certain young men
like to jump out of the window and
steal the mule and buggy and go

Mrs. E. T. Mims and daughter, Miss
Sallle, visited relat.ive3 at Arlington
last week.
Prof. C. H. Shuler spent Sunday
in Arlington, a pair of “brown eyes”
being the attraction.
Dr. and Mrs. B. V. Elmore and
baby are up from Blountstown, Fia.,
on visit to relatives.
Mrs. C. L. Webb and baby have re
turned from an extended visit to her
mother, near Camilla.
Mr. W. C. Culpepper left Monday
to attend Early Superior Court which
is now in session at Blakely.
Mrs. Genie Brunson and Mr. Napier
Burso'i, of Mitchell county, are vis
iting Mrs. C. L. Webb this week.

Mrs. Clifford Bruton, who has been
visiting friends in Dothan, arrived
Saturday evening to spend a while
with relatives here.
Mrs. Mrs. W. C. Culpepper and lit
tle son, Malcolm, returned last Wed
nesday from a delightful visit to rel
atives in Thomasville.
Rev. E. M. Overby filled his regu
lar appointment at the M. E. Church
Sunday morning and evening, preach
ing two very fine sermons.
Mrs. Clarence Twitty and baby,
who have been spending some time
with relatives in South Florida, are
the guests of her sister, Mrs. W. C.
Griffin.
Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Hightower are
entertaining another young man at
their home. The little fellew made
his appearance April 4th and mother
and babe are doing nicely.
Miss Emmie Speight left Thursday
for a visit to her parent 3in Fort
Gaines. She was accompanied as far
as Cuthbert by Mr. W. M. Bradley,
who returned home Friday.
Miss Maude Haddock came over
from the Alabama Brenau at Eufaula
tio spend a few days with the home
folks. She was accompanied by her
friend, Miss Gertrude Ingram, who it
also a student of the same school.
Mr. Will Douglas left last week for
St. Louis, Mo., where he has accepted
a position as traveling salesman for
spme firm in that city. Mrs. Douglas
will join him in a few weeks. We wish
for him aboundant success in his new
territory.

Mrs. C. J. Spooner and Miss Niza
Spooner, of Mayhaw, visited Mrs.
Spooner’s mother, Mrs. Z. Barnett,
Sunday last.
Miss Eunice Hodges left Saturday
for Greenwood, Fla., where she will
spend a while with her sister, Mrs.
L. T. Hudson.
Miss Manda Batson returned to her
home in Dothan Saturday from a
week's visit with her sister, Mrs. Car
son McLendon.
Mrs. Bill Batson, of Dothan. Ala., t
is visiting her daughter. Mrs. Car°on
McLendon, who is on the sick I'M,
at this writing.
On Friday last a young man put
in his application for board at Mr.
and Mrs. Carson McLendon’s and
now Mr. Carson has a smile all over
his face.
Mr. Thomas Harvey and sister,
Winnie. Misses Vesta and Hettie Min
ter and Clifford Johnson visited in
Columbia Sunday last. They report
a pleasant time.

Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Chambers spent
Sunday with the former’s parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Green Chambers.
Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Weaver, who
have been visiting relatives here, re
turned to their home in Tampa, Fla.,
Tuesday.
Rev. J. I. Hill filled his regular
appointment here Sunday. He preach
ed a fine sermon, which was enjoyed
by many.
We are glad to learn that Miss'
Georgia Pyle is improving. Her
many friends wish to see her out with
them again soon.
Mrs. William Sheffield and sister,
Lutie, of near Columbia, attended ser
vices here Sunday and dined with
the Misses Roberts.
Mr. H. T. McLendon called on his
best girl Monday night. If the boys
get ahead of him on Sunday he is
sure to go up Monday.
Quite a crowd of the young people
of this place went to Hayes’ Ferry
Sunday afternoon. Among those who
went were Misses Mattie Bell Roberts,
Minnie Regan, Vera Perry, Polly anff
Mattie Wiley; Messrs. Smiley Re
gan, Linton Wiley, Ben Harper, John
Chambers and Drew Roberts. All re
ported a good time.
