VOLUME LXII } NO. 46 PEANUT ASSOCIATION ELECTS OFFICERS ALBANY, Ga„ July 2—At the per manent organization meeting of the directors of the Georgia Peanut Grow ers Co-operative Association held at Albany Monday, June 25, the follow ing officers were elected: President —Colonel R. E. L. Spence, Albany. First Vice-President —J. P. Mcßee, Camilla. Second Vice-President —W. J. Oli ver, Shellman. Temporary Sec. —W. E. Barnes, Al bany. Treasurer —(To be selected later.) Executive Committee —Colonel R. E. L. Spence, Mr. J. P. Mcßee, Mr. W. J. Oliver and MY J. M. Hunt, of Cordele, and G. R. Lundy, of Syl vester. Officers of the temporary organi zation read reports showing that ..he Association had been perfefcted at a very low expense. Several authori ties on co-operative marketing have declared that the Peanut Association was formed at the lowest organiza tion expense of any big co-operative marketing organization yet formed. A charter was applied for, the form being agreed on after a draft made by Aaron Sapiro was read. A set of by-laws was adopted and other steps taken in the way of permanent organization. The first Wedneday in each month was agreed on as the regular meeting date for the board. A run-over election is being held in the Sixth district— composed of Thomas, Brooks, Cook and Colquitt counties —this week between C. M. Massey of Barwick and L. J. Me- Phaul, of Doerun. Mr. Massey who led the ticket but did not receive a majority in the first election, is serv ing as temporary director. The Peanut Association now has a sign-up of nearly 90,000 acres, about 68,000 acres of which are in the original territory and about 21,000 acres in Middle Georgia and other sections of South Georgia that were not included in the oriignal territory. It is expected that 100,000 acres will be under contract in the state by harvest time. See the program for particulars. We would emphasize the four great meetings for the mornings. On Tues day morning, 10 to 12, there is to be a great rally on Woman’s Work. MTs. Miller, the Associational Superintend ent, has prepared a great program. Every W. M. S. and the auxiliary organizations should be well repre sented. Wednesday morning comes the Evangelistic Conference. Dr. B. S. Railey, Atlanta, will be in ■ charge, and the pastors and leaders in all our churches will discuss the task that is ours in leading the lost to the Lord. This is very important, and other things should be dropped that we might have this Conference. On Thursday comes the Sunday School Convention. Every Sunday fully organized, new districts will be laid out in that part of the state and a director will be elected from each of the districts. WARRICK ENTERTAIN Mrs. Earl Wilson and Mrs. Alto Warrick were joint hostesses at a beautiful rook party Thursday after noon at the home of Mrs. Earl Wil son, given in honor of Mrs. Earl George of Panama City, Fla., and Mrs. Carl Gaulden, of Camilla. The rooms thrown open to the guests were artistically decorated in baskets and tall baskets of pink crepe myrtle and ferns. A color note of pink and green prevailed in all decorations and further in the re freshments. Several interesting games of rook were enjoyed, Mrs. Alvan Fleming making top score. At the conclusion of the games the hostesses, assisted by Miss Mar guerite Alexander, served a delicious salad course. Among those present were Mes dames Murray Brunson, Jack Howell, Claude Howell, Alvan Fleming, Ber nard Herring, Charles Lane, Sidney Howell, J. M. Haisten of Panama City, Fla., Carl Gauden of Camilla, T. F. Mabry of Americus, Earl George of Panama City, Misses Fleda Mulligan of Crockett, Texas, Eva | Draughon and Ruth Dumas of Rey nolds, Marguerite Alexander, Lucy Donalson, Myrtice Freeman and Lu cile Barksdale. i BIBLE STUDY CLASS. The Bible Study Class will meet Monday afternoon at four o’clock at the home of Mrs. T. S. Chandler, with Miss Eula May Chandler, .Mrs. J. S. Fulton and Mrs. Chandler as hostesses. Devotional —Mrs. C. L. Tabb. Lesson —Mrs. Ida L. Stone and Mrs. Blitch. We did not finish Lesson IX at the last meeting, so we will take that lesson on next Monday.
