and Carl Yarbrough motored down
to Panama City, Fla., Sunday and
spent the day.
Miss Virginia Legg, of Americus,
arrived Wednesday to be the guest
of her cousin, Miss Marjorie Toole,
for several days.
Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Toole, Lamar
Toole, Misses Dorothy and Marjorie
Toole and Miss Ellen Rambo spent
Tuesday in Bainbridge.
Mrs. C. D. Duke entertained at
her home on South Main street

who has gone to join his wife and
litte daughter at Bartow, Fla.
Mrs. V. F. Balkcom and children,
Dorothy and Frances, have returned
from a two weeks’ visit to Panacea
Springs, Mr. Victor Balkcom going
down after them. Mr. Balkcom
remained over for another week.
Mrs E. G. Hale and little daugh
ter, Alice, returned to their home
in Fitzgerald Saturday, after a sev
eral days’ stay with Mrs. D. W.
James. M'rs. Wilkie James accom
panied them home for a week’s visit.
Mrs. C. C. Lane and son, Billie,
Mrs. E. A. Wilson and children
and Mrs. Alto Warrick and young
son and Mrs. S. K. Rhyne and
young son, Bill, are down at Pana
ma City, Fla., on a several days’ stay.
Mr. B. B. Sapp, of Graceville,
Fla., an old-time citizen of Early
county, has been up this week ming
ing with his relatives and former
neighbors. He came up with Mr. J.
B. Singletary, who had been visiting
in that section.

Master Thomas Felder’s friends

learn that he is doing nicely follow
ing an operation at a Dothan hos
pital Sunday afternoon, and hope
the little fellow will soon be able
to return home.

D. Tyson, of Columbia, Ala., came
over early Sunday morning to obtain
Ordinary Lane’s permit to work in
double harness in future. The gen
ial Judge accommodated them and
sent them on their way rejoicing.
The annual protracted meeting at
Pine View church begins on the first
Sunday in August. Pastor Zachert
will do his own preaching and ex
tends a cordial invitation to every- 1
body in reach of the church. Os
course, this includes Blakely folks.

C. Lane officiating, Miss Nellie Wil
son of Miller county to Mr. J. Will
Tinsley of Blakely. Mr. Tinsley is
a well known Blakely machinist.
The bride is a niece of Uncle Mart
Wilson of Miller county. May they
live long and prosper.
Rev. Spencer B. King is engaged
in a revival meeting with Pastor
Sauls at the New Hope Baptist
church this week. The meeting is
creating a great deal of interest and
is drawing large congregations. It is
only a half hour’s drive from Blakely
to New Hope, the road is extra fine
and if our city folks want to see
Bro. King at his best, this is a
mighty good opportunity to do so.

Friends of Miss Kathleen Robin
son, daughter of Mrs. Minta Odum
Robinson, of 315 Commerce street,
will learn with interest that she was
the fortunate winner of the prize
offered in the magazine section of
the Atlanta Journal for the best
story plot written this month for
the children’s page. Kathleen is 13
years old, and has just completed
grammar school. Her story was giv
en a prominent place on the page
devoted to children’s interests in
yesterday’s Journal.
