“And he said unto them, render
therefore unto Caesar the things
■which be Caesar’s and unto God the
things which be God's.” —Luke 20:25.
This, as we Bald last week, was a
upan of 1891 years to jump. Many
things have transpired since the hour
in which he was speaking to those
spies who came to ensnare him. You
and I were not born and Columbus’
ship had not been built. This was
an island inhabited by the unknown.
There were no pretty homes here
then nor sweet singing by mortal
man. This lonely country laid in
darkness. But how times have
changed as those words have rung on
down through time and have burned
their way into many, many lives.
And now we live in a land of plenty
and prosperity. So you see the
world has grown better as we have
come this way. 1 ask this question:
'“Why are you not happy?’’ The thing
that keeps you unhappy is not in
the other person, but in you. The
thing that keeps you back has kept
back many. It has kept me back for
many years and still holds me in its
clutches. What is it? Old ignorance.
He is a mean scamp. Let us put
him out. How? you will say. By
being the ones that are willing to
do our part and looking after and
keeping clean in our every walk of
life. We have the material to better
conditions with. What is it? you
will say. It’s the boys and the girls
that are in our homes, as the child
Jesuß was in the temple sitting In
the midst of the doctors, both hearing
them and asking them questions.
Luke 2:46. His words lighted up
the world and put everything in its
place. They hung up the blue cur
tain of the sky, set each planet in
Its proper motion, put all seeds, the
gold and the silver in the bowels of
tho earth and sent the clear streams
of living water forth for his children
of all nations, kindred and tongues.
For He has said that “In the begin
ning was tho Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was
God, and all things were made by
Him.”—John 1:1-3. So get yourselves
together. We are the greatest peo
ple under the sun today. We have
the finest men and the prettiest
Women in America of any nation
that I know. Look in our nice town
of Blakely and you will see this.
What has made this? Our rural
people. There are some of the fin
est folks living out there that you
ever saw. We will help you and you
must help us. Push up your sleeves
and get the kinks out of your backs
and open your eyes and look well
to your schools and churches and
see if we can not improve on every
thing, even ourselves. Then we
can join in singing of the new song.
“And they sang a new song saying,
Thou art worthy to take the Book
and to open the seals, for Thou was*
slain and hast redeemed us to God
by thy blood out of every' kindred
and tongue and people and nation
and has made us unto- our God
kings and priests.” Revelations
5:9-10. (To be continued.)
