YOUTH HELD FOR
KILLINGCOMPANION
Damascus, Ga. —Jim Hob Barrett
is being held in connection with the
death near here Wednesday of last
week of G. S. Goolsby, it is charged
that Milliner came to his death
through a blow on the head struck
by Barrett.
The alleged slaying occurred on
Clarence Mims' farm, in Miller
county, and Barrett was lodged in
the county jail at Colquitt.
According to the local version of
the affair, the two boys were sawing
wood together Monday afternoon. A
quarrel arose over some trivial mat
ter, and bystanders were unaware
that it had assumed serious propor
tions until, according to witnesses,
Milliner turned his back on Barrett
and stooped over to pick up the
end of the saw, when, it }s charged,
Barrett hit him behind the ear with
a piece of scantling or fence rail,
knocking him senseless.- -Men who
were present helped Milliner to his
feet and after a time he was able to
walk to his home nearly a mile dis
tant. He never regained full con
sciousness and died the following 1
day.
Barrett was arrested and placed
in jail, awaiting court action. It is
said that all of the witnesses of the
affair, except one small boy, are rel
atives of Barrett.

report delinquents to the grand jury
for indictment for misdemeanor and
on conviction those who have not
paid these taxes will not only be
double taxed, but may be imprisoned
or fined, as prescribed in section
1065 of volume 2. of the Code of
1910.
This course will be very embar
rassing to me and I am giving those
who have not paid these taxes this
additional notice and warning in or
der to save them from the conse
quences their neglect will bring upon
them.

The Georgia State Board of Ento
mology has arranged with the Cen
tral of Georgia Railway Company to
operate a peddler ear of calcium
arsenate again this year. A car will
be sidetracked at the places and on
date listed below. Cotton growers
can secure any amount from 100
pounds up, same to be sold at the
car for cash. Those who have pre
viously ordered arsenate can secure
iheir allotment from this car at 12c
per pound.
The car will be at Blakely on
Wednesday, April 9th.
Detailed information will be given
at the car as to best method of con
trolling the boll weevil, together
with instructions as to best use of
calcium arsenate. There will also be
free demonstrations of different mod
els of dusting machines.
Controlling the boll weevil with
calcium arsenate and producing a
normal crop of cotton is no longer
an experiment. Any cotton grower
| can produce a normal crop if he will
follow the method and uses calcium
arsenate as outlined by the Georgia
State Board of Entomology. Buy
your calcium now and prepare to
dust every acre you plant.

rors in order to guarantee accuracy.
Employs trained and exeprlencod
Sanitary Engineers, whose services
in advising on and supervising the con
struction of water works, drainage
and sewerage, are free to all con^m un
ities in the State.
Maintains control over all water sup
plies to prevent contamination; makes
regular inspections and laboratory
tests of water supplies.
Maintains a laboratory for the free
diagnosis of contagious diseases.
Forms the official connecting links
