And He said unto them, render
therefore unto Caesar the things
which be Caesar's and unto God
the things which be God's. - -Luke
20:25.
We do not have any record of
these people who were speaking to
Jobss ever doing what He told them
to do, for then as well as now it was
a very difficult matter to get people
to do right. A man has to almost
see death before he is willing to
take the medicine prescribed by the
doctor. 1 do not think any doctor
ever enjoyed giving his medicine to
crazy persons, for it is much harder
to get them to take it. “For the
fool hath said in hia heart there is
no God.” Psalms 14:1. What is
your view of this character? We will
Jet the first king in Israel answer
for us. ‘‘l have played the fool and
have erred exceedingly." 1 Samuel
26:21. Jesus has said call not your
brother a fool. Get It? Here it is,
“But whosoever shall say thou fool
shalt be in danger of hell fire.” Mat.
5:22. So do not mistake me in my
views. I verily believe many people
have erred as Saul of Israel and Saul
of Tarsus did. “And Saul yet breath
ing out threatenlngs, and as he came
near the city he fell to the earth
and heard a voice say unto him,
Saul, Saul.” Acts 9:1-3. Let me
add this thought here: I believe the
cleser we get to the throne of God
the plainer The Voice will be, for
we will hear him as Peter, James and
John did when he was transfigured
before them on the mountain. “And
his face did shine as the sun,” Mat.
17:2. This Voice was heard by John
and it cried through the lips of the
wilderness preacher as he stood on
the banks of Jordan, saying: "Repent,
for the kingdom of Heaven is at
hand.” Mathew 3:1-2-3. He was a
fearless preacher and I admire him
for his frankness. 1 do not know
whether many of our modern Chris
tians of the present day people would
or not, should one like Him come
this way. Ido not expect that he
would get many invitations to hold
revivals in our churches for this
reason —our people would say that
be is an extremist. I think people
now, as the prodigal did, will have
to come to themselves. Get the
writer’s statement: “And when he
came to himself." Luke 15:17, 1
want to say this about the prodigal
son —he had man enough to confess
his wrongs, as Saul of Israel and
Saul of Tarsus did. I believe the
prodigal son and Saul of Tarsus were
saved, for they gave fruits after re
penting of their mistakes and their
lives stand out as two great beacon
lights today as no other ones do, un
less it is the Apsostlo Peter, whose
letters have stood the thunders of
many critics. Hut still they are
heard down to this present day and
will be as long as time shall last.
Oh, God, give us men and women
who know you and are not afraid
of the truth.
