BLAKELY HI STARTS
FOOTBALL PRACTICE
The football squad of the Blakely
High School have already started
light football practice. So far the
boys have no uniforms or other
equipment, but a determined effort
wil! be made to equip them in good
style before their first game.
The local eleven hopes to open
th: football season in Blakely on
September 19th if they can arrange
a game with the Cuthbert Hi. The
Randolph county boys intend to ven
ture on to the football gridiron this
fall for the first, time.
■ ..arles Tarver, manager of the
Hla 1 idy HI football squad has al
ready closed a game with the Do
than Hi in Dothan on September 26,
this for a cash guarantee and supper.
It will be remembered that Dothan
Hi trimmed the Blakely Hi in the
first game the local boys ever play
ed. This was in the fall of 1921,
the score being 48-0. The “Golden
Streak” fully intend to make a bet
ter showing this time.
No contribution was assed from
Blakely last year, but the ooys have
simply got to have equipment this
time.
Blakely HI has also closed a game
with the Eufaula Hi in Eufaula on
October 3rd. This is a return game,
paying back the Alabama boys for
a game here last year. Blakely won
that Time 20-6. Here’s hoping our
boys w ill win again.
The Blakely manager is in com
mtini Lion with the high schools or
Albany, Bainbridge, Dawson, Cuth
bert, Shellman, Doerun, Donalson
ville, Americus, Lumpkin and Mar
ianna, and hope to report a full
schedule by the opening of school.
Quite a large bunch of boys are
reporting for practice. Prof. E. E.
McCarty, Jr., will take active charge
of the coaching until the return or
Prof. Mangham, who has been quite
sick.
It looks like a big year for the
Blakely Hi in football, and the
boys are very enthusiastic.
Anoth t recruit to Blakely Hi is
Tom Howell, who played quarterback
last year. Tom should prove a val
uable man this year.

RALLY DAY
A Good Program Planned f or the
Blakely Baptist Sunday School.
Next Sunday morning is expected
to be a record-breaker in the Bap
tist Sunday School. Rally-day exer
cises will be held, a good program
by the little folks will he rendered
in addition to the regular lesson,
which is on FAITH, based on the
Scripture narrative of the healing of
the nobleman's son.
A challenge was issued by the
Business Men’s Class to the Young
Men’s Bible Class, which was ac
cepted promptly, and each class is
quite active in their efforts to win
the contest. The proposition is that
the Business Men’s Class is to have
twice the number present, and to
double the special offering of the
Young Men’s Bible Class on next
Sunday. The Dorcas Class is also tn
competition with the combined Fidcl
is-Daughters of Ruth Classes, and it
is expected that there will be an
unusual attendance.
As a part of the program the pas
tor will present the Awards for the
special Study Course work that was
done at the recent Encampment at
Bluffton. Blakely is far ahead of
the other churches in the number of
awards as will be seen by the re
port published elsewhere.
Regardless of what class you should
be in, or what Sunday School you
should attend, should not all the
people, not only in Blakely, but all
over the county, make this —the first
Sunday in September—a real GO-TO
SUNDAY-SOHOOL-DAY?
And starting, can we not keep on
going?
