NOTES FROM THE
BAPTIST CHURCH
Another good day last Sunday. The
Bible School was the second largest
in recent months. Sunday, the 13th,
was larger by a few, but the one
, last Sunday made up the deficit in
spirituality.
X' >!:
The morning congregation was one
of the largest in recent months.
The fine thing about the congrega
tion is the constant growth. Each
Sunday is larger than the preceding
one. It is great to be able to come
to the house of God. You feel bet
ter and can do better work the
next week. Try it.

The Dorcas Class had their Christ
mas tree Friday evening in the home
of Mrs. Crawford Fryer. To say it
was a success is to express it mildly;
it was success in the superlative de
gree. The women certainly know
how to keep the class spirit alive, for
it is super-abundant in the Dorcas
Class.
v $
All the boys and girls who went
away to school are at home. It adds
a new view of life to have these
young people come home and bring
the college spirit with them. We
are glad to have you, young people,
and we hope your visit home for the
holidays will be all that you wish or
expect.
The Christmas exercises last Sun
day morning were fine. It is a dis
covery to most of us to find the tal
ent in our church. If only we
could get the' abundance of talent
in this church going in the right
direction, what a power for good it
would be. Let us try; certainly
we ought. How about a Young
People’s Day in the church?
Next Sunday in this church we
will observe the Christmas season
with a special service in the evening.
Special music will be a leading fea
ture. Do not forget the hour is
7 o’clock, and try to get here on
time.
The one thing we need very badly
in Blakely is the Associated Chan
ties. At this season of the year,
the people find so many places in
need of help and so many people
asking for help, that one never
knows what to do. The Associated
Charities would solve our problems
and at the same time give us suffi
cient funds to supply the needs in
our midst. Let us think over this
! and get together and organize right
I away.

| The first Sunday in the New Year
will be our consecration service.
This will be the spiritual service of
the day. We will observe the Lord’s
Supper at the morning hour with a
special program. If you fail to
attend this service, you will miss
the best service in this church in
j recent months. Remember the
I time and be on hand to begin the
! New Year right.
* « X:
Next Sunday morning we will
take a Love Offering for the debt
on the Foreign Mission Board. The
envelopes were given out last Sun
day morning and you are requested
■to put in whatever you feel led of
; the Lord, and bring or send to the ;
’ church Sunday morning. Please do :
not fail us.
i We dismissed our service last
, Sunday evening and worshiped with
• the Presbyterian congregation in
' their beautiful new church. The
house was full and the sermon was
fine. Our prayers go to Him who
can help for this young congrega-
I tion.
X: ❖ ❖
We are wondering if you, dear
reader, are going to include the
mid-week prayer service in your i
New Year’s resolutions. Certainly |
the lame part of our worship is '
our prayer life. How can we main
tain a deep spiritual life and not
meet together and pray about our
problems? Let me urge you now to ;
include the mid-week prayer service i
i in your program for next year,
j We extend to our people best
i wishes for the holiday season. If it
| were possible, we would remember ,
I you in a different way, but since it i
■ is not, then the next best thing we :
can do is to give you good wishes, '
! and here they are plenty, together '
■ with our prayers for His blessingsl
ion you and yours during the New;
Year.
i The regular service Sunday morn
i ing. The subject will be “The Sig- ;
‘ nificance of Jesus’ Birth.” At the >
i evening hour a union service ’will be
; held in this church. This will be a ■
' Christmas exercise and if we can
• judge by the signs, it will be good.
The Bible School meets at 9:45;
; and you will find a class for you, !
and a welcome of the “old days” j
I waiting.

CHRISTMAS.
By M. Lucile Freeman.
Hurrah for Christmas!
Here we go
After the Christmas tree
Through the snow.
What fun decorating
With tinsel bright
And thinking of Santa
When he comes tonight.
Now, as its’s Christmas eve night,
We’ll all go to bed,
First hang up your stocking,
Then cover up your head.
While we are sleeping old Santa’ll
be creeping
Down the chimney tall,
With a sack full of candy, plenty of
fruit
And lots of presents for all.
He is the same old Santa,
Still fat and jolly.
For each little girl
He has a big dolly.
For each little boy
A knife and a gun—
He likes for the kiddies
To have lots of fun.
He’s a grand old fellow,
With his beard white as snow,
But all children love him—
And this we all know.
AN EXHILARATING EFFECT
A bottle of Herbine on the shelf at
home is like having a doctor in the house
all the time. It gives instant relief when
the digestion gets out of order or the
bowels fail to act. One or two doses is
all that is necessary to start things mov
ing and restore that fine feeling of exhil
aration and buoyancy of spirits which be-
to perfect health. Price 60c.
