afternoon, but was brought home

The Blakely Study Club will meet
at the home of Mrs. Iva Herring on
Wednesday afternoon at 3:15, with
Mrs. Phinazee, Mrs. Baggs and Mrs.
Martin hostesses.
Mr. Curtis L. Middleton has the
past week opened his insurance of
fice in the Beckham building on Lib
erty street, next to Robinson’s Serv
ice Station. He has an attractive
place and invites its inspection by
the public.
Mr. Austin Mobley narrowly es
caped serious injury last Thursday
night when his car crashed through
the bridge and ran into mill creek
east of the city. Mr. Mobley es
caped from the submerged automo
bile by breaking the rear window
with his bare hand, receiving rather
painful cuts in so doing.

Friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ramsey
Renfroe, of Bethune, S. C., will be
glad to know that their children,
Ramsey, Jr., and Letitia, both of
whom have been ill with bronchitis,
are now convalescent.
Mr. J. E. Beckham left Tuesday
for Monroe, La., where he was called
by the serious illness of his brother,
Mr. Bernard Beckham. His friends
hope that Mr. Beckham will find
his brother much improved.
Mr. Chester C. Chapman, of this
county, and Miss Willie White, of
Cottonwood, Ala., were united in
marriage on Saturday night last by
Justice H. T. King, with Mrs. King
witnessing the ceremony. The young
couple have the best wishes of their
friends.
Mrs. Carl Blount of Waynesboro,
Ga., Mrs. Robert Savage of Gaines
ville, Fla., and Mrs. Albert Mc-
Glaun of Cocoa, Fla., have returned
to their homes after spending sev
eral days with their sister, Mrs. L.
R. Thompson.

Savior’s coming to earth, and the
pastor is speaking next Sunday
morning on “Jesus, the Only Sav
ior.” At the evening hour, 7:00,
the subject will center around the
Seventh Beatitude, “Blessed are the
Peacemakers,” and we shall think
about the End of War. Everybody
is invited to these and all other
services.

Training Unions meet at 6:00, with
