Blakely F. F. A. News
The part that agriculture is called
•upon to do in the victory for win
ning the war represents a big task.
This task is directed to the end
of making available to our people
and to all our allies the large quan
tities of essential farm products
needed. The Unite® States Depart
merit of Agriculture has made a care
ful study of the demands for food
and feed. Their recommendations in
dicate something of the scope of
changes needed in the Agriculture
Program in order to assure victory.
For -example, they are requesting
that peanuts be increased 255 per
cent of the 1941 production; that
vegetables for canning and process
ing be increased 110 per cent; beef
and veal, 115 per cent; chickns, 110
per cent; turkeys, 110 per cent; and
eggs, 113 per cent.
Our chapter bakes pride in an
nouncing that we are 100 per cent
in this program. Aside from our
regular F. F. A. activities, each mem
ber will have a “Project for Uncle
Sam.” Each boy has set as his goal
one other project than that set up
in his Practice Program. Several
boys are going to take over the
planting and processing of garden
products. Others are increasing and
adding poultry projects, while many
are doing the same in peanut pro
duction. Danuel Bailey has set up
for his projects 8 acres of corn, 4
brood sows, 8 beef cattle and 5
acres of peanuts. We hope to help
•win the war by answering the call
for more farm products.
