Mr. D. R. Deal, who recently un
derwent an operation at a Macon
hospital, returned home Sunday.

his condition is improving. Mrs.

Mr. W. R. McKinney spent several

Mrs. Clyde Mathison, of Abbeville,
Ala., spent Monday and Tuesday
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Harpe, at Colomokee.
Mr. Dick Mueller, who is now em
ployed in a ship yard in Mobile, spent
the week end here with his wife.
Mr. and Mrs. Mueller plan to move
to Mobile in a few weeks and will
make their home there.
Mr. Barnett Solomon, who has been
working in Valdosta for the past sev
eral months, last week enlisted in the
U. S. Navy. He is not at home await
ing a call from Navy officials. He
enlisted as a Second Class Petty Of
ficer.
Friends here will be interested to
learn that Pfc. Daniel L. Black of
this city, now in active service at
Craig Field, Selma Ala., has just
been notified of his acceptance as an
Aviation Cadet in the United States
Army, Air Corps. Daniel arrived at
Craig Field in August, 1940, and
since that time has been discharging
the duties of an airplane mechanic.
He is a son of Mrs. C. C. Black, on
Fort Gaines avenue.
Friends will be interested to know
that Miss Odelia King, of Blakely,
is among the students who will fig
ure prominently in the Religious
Emphasis Week at the Georgia State
Womans College, Valdosta, this
week. Miss King is a member of
the Cabinet of the Young Womans
Christian Association, the executive
board of the organization which is
sponsoring the programs. Miss King
is pianist for Morning Watch Serv
ices, a daily devotional sponsored by
the Y. W. C. A. She is secretary
treasurer of the French Clpb and a
member of the Sophomore Class at
G. S. W. C.
Friends of Mrs. R. W. Davis will
regret to learn that she had the mis
fortune to fall in her home and break
her right hip. She was carried to
Moody hospital for treatment and
probably an operation, and will be
there several weeks.

The TIME question is settled for
the present. For Sunday School,
we will assemble at 10:45—by our
clocks set to ‘War Time’—and dis
miss at 11:4,5. For the morning
hour we will begin at 12 and dismiss
at ,1. We will continue to call it
“morning” for, by the sun, it will
be 11:20 when we get out. We have
announced the evening service to
begin at B—by the clocks—but may
find this is too early and have to
change; but let us try it, even if we
go back home to supper!
For the morning hour the pastor
speaks on “Salt and Light,” and at
night the second in a series on
“Preachers of the Old Testament—
Jeremiah.” We will find that Jere
miah is not far behind the times.
On Monday at 4:30 the Woman’s
Missionary Society meets at the
church, the Sunbeams in their room
at the same time. The Intermediate
G. A. meets on Tuesday just after
school with Miss Vereen Woolf.
A meeting of special interest to
our Sunday School officers and
teachers is to be held at Edison,
10 to 3 (War Time) on Tuesday,
and it is earnestly hoped that a
goodly number will go from our
Church.

The Blakely Woman’s Club will
meet tomorrow afternoon (Friday)
at four o’clock, it has been announc
ed. The meeting will be held at the
club house in Woodlawn Park. All
members are urged to be present.
DEATH CLAIMS
EIGHT-YEAR-OLD BOY
A. B. Nobles, 8-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Nobles, died at
9 o’clock on Monday night of last
week after an illness of only one day.
Funeral services were held at En
terprise church Thursday afternoon
at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. W. F. Bur
ford officiating. Interment was in
Enterprise cemetery, with Minter,
Fellows & Forrester in charge of ar
rangements.
Surviving are the parents and two
brothers, Robert Lee and Frank Clif
ford Nobles, who have the sympathy
of friends in their bereavement.
INTERMEDIATE G. A.
The Intermediate G. A. met at
the home of Norma Ann Jones on
February 3. The president being ab
sent. the meeting was called to or
der by the Vice President, Elizabeth
Stewart. Minutes were read and
roll called by the secretary. Each
member answered the roll call with
a Bible verse. We had seventeen
present, including four new mem
bers.
A short business session was held
and the meeting was then turned
over to the program chairman, who
conducted a good program on “Hon
esty.” After the meeting was dis
missed, the social committee enter
tained with games and contests. De
licious refreshments were served by
the hostess.
The next meeting will be held at
the home of Vereene Woolf on Feb
ruary 17. All members are asked to
attend.

or less, in the northeast corner of
lot of land number 171 in the '
26th land district of Early County,
Georgia, and more particularly de
scribed as follows: Commencing at
a point twenty (20) chains east
of the northwest corner of said
lot and running south a distance
of three hundred and thirty-five
(335) yards, thence east to the
east line of said lot; thence north
to the northeast corner of said
lot; thence west to the point of
beginning.
Said sale will be had under and
by virtue of a power of sale con
tained in a certain security deed ex
ecuted by P. W. Evans to Commer
cial Bank, Blakely. Ga., on the 28th
day of October, 1939, and recorded
at page 475 of Book 48 in the office
of the Clerk of the Superior Court
of said county, said deed having been
executed to secure the payment of
the grantor’s promissory note in the
principal sum of $248.00, together
with interest on said principal sum
at the rate of eight per centum per
annum from September 20th, 1941,
to the date of said sale.
A deed will be executed to the
purchaser at said sale as provided in
said deed.
Said sale will be had subject to a
certain security deed executed by P.
W. Evans to the First State Bank of
Blakely, Ga., dated the 19th day of
October, 1939. and recorded at page
458 of Book 48 in the office of the
Clerk of the Superior Court of said
