Lieut. Collier Davidson, of Sacra
mento, Calif., spent several days in
Blakely this week with his grand
mother, Mrs. W. H. Alexander.
Mr. Frank King, of this city, has
the sympathy of friends in the death
of his mother, Mrs. V. E. King, of
Lakeland, Ga., who died in Jackson
ville on Wednesday of last week.
Her funeral was at Lakeland Thurs
day.

inducted into the army, at Fort Mc-

that George H. Bell, of the U. S.
army, has recently arrived safely in
Australia. George is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. T. A. Bell of this city.

Mrs. W. S. Tuck and daughter,

iting Mrs. Tuck’s sister, Mrs. How
ard Davenport.
Mr. Dudley Grimes, of the Cuba
community, underwent an operation
at the local hospital last week and
is reported as improving, friends will
be glad to learn.
Misses Ann and Nan Nelson, stu
dents at Huntingdon College, Mont
gomery, will spend the week end at
home with their parents, Mr. and
Mrs. George Nelson.
Friends will be interested to learn
that Clinton Renaue has accepted a
job with the government in the navy
yard in Charleston, S. C., where he
is employed as a machinist.
The many friends of Mr. J. A.
(Butch) Hammack will regret to
know that his condition continues
serious from complications following
an operation at a Cuthbert hospital
last week.
Little Miss Demaris Whitehurst,
daughter of Mt. and Mrs. R. L.
Whitehurst, underwent an operation
at a Dothan hospital Tuesday. She
is reported as improving, friends are
glad to know.

the 76th Coast Artillery.
The wedding will take place in
Philadelphia at an early date.

place on January 10, will be of

Mrs. Williams is the attractive
daughter of Mrs. J. W. Martin, of
the Cedar Springs community, and a
member of the Cedar Springs school
faculty. She finished school at
Georgia Southwestern College, Amer
icus.
Mr. Williams is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Williams, of Blakely. He
is in the Air Corps at Keesler Field,
Biloxi, Miss.
