Short Stops Mr. Dallas Hughes, of Birming ham, was a visitor m Blakely the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Crozier Batchelor and children are visiting relatives at St. Petersburg, Fla. Norton, of Philadel phia, Penna., is here on a visit to her mother, Mrs. W. H. Alexander. T-5 Sherrod Sessions returned to Fort Knox, Ky., Monday night, after spending several days here with his wife. Mr. J. C. Peters left last Thursday for Marietta, where he is undergo ing treatment in a hospital in that city. Mrs. Ruth Houston and Mrs. Jack Crawford spent last week end in Panama City with friends and relatives. Mrs. Josh Davis and daughters, Nelda, Merlyn and Sterlyn, are vis iting their uncle and grandmother in Mexico City, Mexico. Lieutenant Colonel Collier David son, of Atlanta, is spending a few days here with his grandmother, Mrs. W. H. Alexander. Miss Jane Bonner has returned home from the University, where she has just received her A. B. degree, majoring in journalism. Mrs. N. B. Solomon, Mrs. Tom Debnam, and George Debnam are down at Laguna Beach, Panama City, Fla., for several days. Mrs. Robert I. Scott, Jr., and lit tle son, Bobby, are visiting relatives at West Point Military Academy and Eellerose, L. I., New York. Mr. and Mrs. Alma White and children, Jacqueline, Harrell, Peggy and Barbara, spent last Thursday at Long Beach, Panama City, Fla. Mrs. R. M. Underwood is here from Berkeley, Calif., to spend B. a month with her sister, Mrs. J. Tarver. She made the trip by plane. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Williams have returned home, after spending Canada, some time vacationing in Novia Scotia, and other points of interest. Mrs. C. E.. Gunthorpe arrived Wednesday from Atlanta to be with her mother, Mrs. G. F. Pickle, who is undergoing treatment in a Dothan hospital. Mrs. W. A. Radney, of Century, Fla., spent several days here the past week with her son and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilton Radney, and Mrs. Ed Minter. Misses Gayle and Stetha Lee Chambers, of Hilton, left Thursday for an extended visit to relatives in Washington, D. C., Lenardtown, Md., and Norfolk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Duke have returned from a vacation trip to Cuba - and Florida. Mr. and ^“ s Claud Brown, of Dothan, accom panied them on the trip. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones and children have returned to their home in Los Angeles, Calif., after sneding a week at Colomokee with Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Corley. Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Godwin spent Sunday in Donalsonville with their daughter, Mrs. James Renfroe, who is recupererating from a recent op eration at the Baxley Hospital. Blakely and Kolomoki Mounds came in for some real publicity the past Saturday afternoon, when WSB broadcast a radio transcription made from atop of the mounds. Featured on the program were Dr. J. G. Standifer and Chamber of Commerce Secretary R. C. Job, and Brad Crandall and Miss Jane SparKs of the WS'B staff. Miss Annette Alexander is spend ing several weeks in San Antonio, Texas. Miss Ouida Benton, of Newton, Ala., is spending some time with her sister, Mrs. Sammie Denton. Harrell White returned home last Wednesday, after spending sev eral days with Ronny Harrell at Donalsonville, Ga. Roy Pritchard, of the U. S. Para troopers, Fort Benning, is spending a furlough here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Pritchard. Mrs. Alma White and children, Jacqueline, Peggy and Barbara, spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Harrell, at Donalsonville. Mrs. Lee W. Jackson had as her guest the past week end her sister, Mrs. Hilton Phillips, and children, of Donalsonville. Mr. and Mrs. Code Hays and baby daughter, of Haines City, Fla., spent Sunday night with Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Elliott. Friends are interested to know that Barbara, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alma White, has Brills re covered from an illness with fever. Mr. Harry Stone and son, Har land, of Atlanta, spent the week end in Blakely, coming down to visit their brother and uncle, Mr. W. L. Stone, who is undergoing treatment in a Dothan hospital. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Elliott and sons, Shirley and Daniel, of Albany, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Smith and child ren, Betty Gene, Jereleen, Donald and Janett of Dothan, spent Sun day with.Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Elliott. Miss Nelda Carswell, of Lake Wales, Fla., and Miss Veryle Mc Grady, of Columbia, Ala., have re turned to their homes, after spend ing a while here with Miss Sylvia Swann. Pfc. George Temples returned from Korea by plane the past_ week. He is spending his furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Branch Tem ples, and expects to be discharged from the Army within a few weeks. GEORGIA PRENUPTIAL PARTIES HONORING MISS FRYER Mrs. Lowell Dennis and Mrs. W. L. Rhodes entertained Miss Lillian Fryer, who is to be married August 1. with a novel coca-cola party. The bride-elect was presented with a lovely corsage. Several bridal con test games were enjoyed by the guests, with prizes going to the win ners. The honor guest was present ed with a handpainted coaster set. The • guests included Misses Lillian Fryer, Beth Fryer, Emily Single tary, Mrs. Billy Jones, Mrs. E. P. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sawyer were hosts at a buffet supper at their home on College street, Cuthbert, Ga., honoring Miss Lillian Fryer and Jeff Davis of Albany, her fiance. This lovely home with its priceless antiques and beautiful paintings was enhanced with lovely flowers. After supper the guests enjoyed dancing. Those present were Miss Fryer and Mr. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Wat kins and Mr. Allen Davis of Al bany, Miss Beth Fryer, Miss Emily Singletary, Mrs. Billy Jones, Mr. Lewis Fryer, Mr. A. J. Jones complimented Miss Fryer with a lovely bridge party. Beautiful garden flowers were used effectively in the hall and living room. Easter lilies and tuberoses enhanced by candlelight formed a lovely center decoration on the dining room table. The bride-elect was presented with a beautiful crystal compote. Following the ceremony at the First Baptist church, the bride’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Fryer, will entertain at a reception at the Wom ans Club House. CALHOUN-CAMPBELL. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Calhoun, of Sanford, Fla., announce the engage ment of their daughter, Effie Vir ginia Calhoun, to Honore S. Camp bell, of Charleston, S. C. Miss Calhoun attended public schools in Sanford High School in 1939 and later attended Norman Junior College, Norman Park, Ga. She was cashier in Boyett’s Depart ment Store, in Blakely, Ga., for some time. She is at present em ployed by the Southern Bell Tele phone Company of Sanford. Mr. Campbell completed his edu cation in Charleston, S. C., and has been connected with the Charleston Navy Yard for the past five years. The wedding will take place Aug ust thirty-first, in Savannah, Ga.
