TYPE IRRIGATION
Several factors influence the se
lection of the type of irrigation sys
tem best suited to meet existing
conditions. Engineers for the Agri
cultural Extension Service, Universi
ty of Georgia, say that these include
the topography of the land, type of
soil, depth of topsoil, quantity of
water available, type of crop, dis
tance from water supply to land to
be irrigated, labor available, and at
titude of the grower.
MINERALS NECESSARY IN FEED
Minerals build bone, stimulate the
appetite, (promote .resistance to dis
ease and save feed through more ef
fteient use of feed consumed, accord
ing to livestock specialists for the
Agricultural Extension Service, Uni
versity of Georgia. The most import
ant minerals necessary in the diet of
hogs arc salt, calcium and phosphor
OUS.
Feed good dry roughage before
turning cows into clover to prevent
bloat, according to dairymen for the
Agricultural Extension Service of
the University of Georgia.
Poultry specialists for the Agri
cultural Extension Service, Univers- __
ity of Georgia, state that you should
keep your layers comfortable at
all times.
Landscape specialists for the Agri
cultural Extension Service say that
the flower bed is used to provide cut!
color and as a place to grow
flowers.
Cutting the ripe trees in a stand
is usually called a harvest cutting,
according to foresters for the Agri
cultural Extension Service, Univers
ity of Georgia.
