Macon, Ga. Janette is the _daug'hter
of Mr. and Mrs. Lee W. Jackson.
Mr. G. W. Anderson, who has
been making his home in Early
county for several months, left this
week on a business trip to Illinois
and Junction City, Kansas. He will
return about the middle of July.

Mrs. H. B. Buchannon has return
ed from a plane trip to High Point,
N. C., where she went to visit her
son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. C. F. Kinsey, and to attend the
graduation exercises at Duke Uni
versity, where her grandson, C. F.,
111, was a member of the graduating
class,
Miss Joan Jordan, of Blakely and
Atlanta, left Atlanta Friday by plane
with a party of friends to vacation
in the British West Indies. She will
stay at the Ft. Montague Hotel at
Nassau in the Bahamas. En route
home she plans a brief stay in Miami.
Joan is the daughter of Mr. and
Mre. R. L. Jordan.
Mr. F. 8. Jones, of Bainbridge,
was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
Chancy on Wednesday of last week,
having lunch with Dr. W. H. Kil
patrick, of New York, a former Mer
cer classmate of Mr, Jones, who was
the.guest a day or two of Mr. and
Mrs. Chancy. :
Mrs. G. J. Correll and Miss Jacque
lynn Correll spent the week end in
Atlanta with Miss Patricia Correll,
who received her cap at the Y. W.
C. A chapel Friday night. This cap
designates that she has finished her
pre-clinical period at Grady Hospital
School of Nursing and is now enter
ing her clinical period. Mrs. Correll
and Jacquelynn returned by way of
Montgomery, Ala., where they picked
up Mr. Correll, who has been dis
charged from the Veterans hospital
in that city.

' Friends of Mrs. S. P. Holland, Jr.,

her father, My. William DeFord, who
died suddenly Saturday at his home
in Denton, Md. Dr. and Mrs. Hol
land left immediately after receiving
‘the news. Funeral services for Mr.
DeFord were held Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Deßosa, of
Chamblee, Ga., announce the birth
of a son, Wilkam Thornton, Patter
son Hospital, Cuthbert, June 2. Mrs.
Deßosa is the former Miss Virginia
Holman of this city and she and the
baby are now at the home of her
parents, Mr, and Mre. Grady Holman,
Mrs. Felix Davis, Sr., and Miss
Frances Carter attended the gradua
tion exercises at Georgia Teachers
College, Statesboro, the past week.
Mrs. Davis’ daughter, Mrs. Guyton
McLendon, was one of those receiv
ing diplomas, graduating with hon
ors. Miss Carter went from there to
Savannah to spend some time with
her sister, Mrs. Elzabeth Overby.
Mise Claudette Fleming is spend
ing this week in College Park, at
tending a week’s meeting at Girls
State. She was selected by the fae
culty of Blakely high school as the
American Legion Auxiliary delegate
for outstanding leadership and good
citizenship at Blakely High., Friends
will be interested to learn that she
hae been elocted Judge of the Su
preme Court at Girls State for the
week out of a 2 group of over one
hundred girls,
Miss Marilyn Middleton is attend
ing the Red Cross Aquatic School at
Roosevelt State Park, Chipley, Ga.,

Early County Red Cross Chapter.

FAMILY REUNION
There has recently been something
of a family reunion at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. R, B. Pyle, in this
county. Their four daughters and
families, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Mayfield
and sons of Compton, Calif., Mr, and
Mrs. Joe Allee and her son, Billy
Grice, his wife, Jane, and daughter,
Kathy of Norwalk, Calif., Mr. and
Mrs. H. J. Talbot and dauthter,l
Elaine, of Columbus, Ga., and Mrs.
George Massey of Largo, Fla., have
been visiting their parents and en
joying each other after a three-year
separation. In addition to the im
mediate family, they have enjoyed
having relatives from Jacksonville,
Fla.,, and Markelville, Ind., with
them. Mrs. Massey has returned to
Largo, Mr. and Mrs. Mayfield will
leave shortly for a tour through
Washington and New York, and Mrs,
Talbot is returming to Columbus
within a few days. They all will re
member this enjoyable vigit for many
years to come.
