ninety-seventh birthday Sunday, Oec
tober 4. Mr. Mosely is Early coun
ty's oldest native citizen and s
greatly loved by many friends. His
children were here for the day and

gratulate him on reaching another
milestone in his long and useful
life.

Bobby Jean Rogers, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Roscoe Rogers, to Mr.
Ollin Goocher, Jr., son of Mr., and
‘Mrs. Ollin Goocher,
The ceremony was performed Sun
day morning immediately following
the worship service at the Blakely
Baptist Church, by the Rev, W, E,
Storey, the pastor, in his study.
Only immediate members of the
families witnessed the ceremony.
The young couple will reside in
llhflm. where Mr. Goocher s em
iployed in the Lockheed Bomber
' Plant.

Houston Thursday afternoon, Sep
tember 24,

The meeting was opened with the
Regent, Mrs. Dunbar Grist, presid
ing. The Ritual and Pledge to the
Flag ‘were given and this was follow
ed by the chapter singing ‘The Star
Spangled Banner.”
Various committees were appoint
ed and the work discussed by the
Regent. She also announced that the
dues for the chapter had been voted
upon and would be increased for the
coming year,
Mrs. T. Earle Stripling, the State
Regent, will be a guest of the chap
ter in November,
Mrs. J. H. Moye gave a report of
the district meeting in Thomasville
which was held recently.
At conclusion of all business, Mr.
Ed Morton was presented, and he
gave a most interesting and enter
taining talk on “My Days in Eu
rope,” which was greatly enjoyed.
A social hour concluded the meet
ing and the hostess served a deli
cious salad course with tea.
Mrse., W. M. Barksdale, a new
member, was welcomed into the chap
ter. Other members attending were

A former beauty queen is among
the new teachers at the Albany
High School.
. Miss Carolyn Dunning, American
history instructor, 'is one of the
‘most attractive teachers {o ever
co‘m here to teach. She was born
in” Blakely, attended Blakely High
School, Georgia State College for
Women in Milledgeville and was
graduated from the University of
Georgia, Athens, in June, 1952, Miss
Dunning graduated with a B. 8. de
gree in Education; she majored in
social science and minored in Span
ish. She taught in Waynesboro last
year,
Her favorite hobbies are sewing
and collecting records, and her favor
ite sport is football.,
In high school she was kept very
busy as captain of the cheer leaders,
guard on the basketball team, busi
ness manager of the annual, member
of Beta Club, Tri-Hi-Y, FHA honor
student, and was in Who's Who in
the Senior Clase. In college also
she was well liked, because she was
a member of Alpha Gamma Delh]
sorority, president of Mary Lyndon
dormitory, member of Women's Stu-]
dent Government, Women's Athletic
Association and Future Teachers,
She was also an honor student.
We are very proud of Miss Dun
ning, because when she appeared inl
the Pandora Beauty Review, che was
chosen “Miss Athens” and placed
second in “Miss Georgia.”
