PMA Committee, »
Price supports are announced for
oats, barley, rye, and grain sorghums
produced in 1954 would be at 85 per
cent of parity, the same percentage
of parity which was in effect for
supports on these crops this year,
The national average price sup
port rates for 19564 production of
the four crops, reflecting 85 per
ecent of parity as of September 15.{
1953, will be:
Oats, 76 cents per bushel for
Grade No. 3 or better,
Barley, $1.15 per bsuhel for Grade'
No. 2 or better (éxcept ‘“‘mixed’
barley).
Rye, $1.43 per bushel for Grade
No. 2 or better or Grade No, 3 on
test weight factor only but other
wise grading No. 2. ‘
Grain Sorghums, $2.28 per hun
dredweight for Grade No, 2 or bet
ter (except ‘“mixed” grain sor
ghums).
The dollars-and-cents support rates
for 1964 will be somewhat lower
than those in effect for 1963 pro-,
duction for three of the four crops. |
As a result of the “transitional par- |
ity” features of the modernized ‘
parity formula provided by lexhln-‘
tion, parity prices are lower this
year than last for oats, barley, and
grain sorghums but not for rye,!
which has already completed its
“Lransition.” ‘
The supports for 10564 will be car
ried out through Commodity Credit
Comporation farm storage loans,
" warchouse storage loans, and pur
chase agreements, To be eligible for
support the oats must grade No, 3|
or better; barley No. 6 or better;
rye, No. 2 or better or No. 3 on the
factor of test weight only but other
wise No. 2 or better; grain sorghums,
No. 4 or better,
Loans and purchase agreements
will be available through the office
of the Production and Marketing Ad
ministration county committee from
the time of harvest through January
31, 19565, ’

During the winter months it s/
more difficult to have a quantity of
