Danger Of Forest
Fires High And
Increasing Daily
Atlanta, Ga.—With forest fire
danger already high and increasing
daily, an urgént warning and appeal
for redoubled efforts in fire preven
tion came today from the Georgia
Forestry Commission. '
Commission officials especially
warned that all persons must post-l
pone any burning operations \mtfl|
after a good soaking rain of several |
days’ duration. 5
Commission Director Guyton De-|
Loach stated that “all persons must'
cease burning operations in or nenri
the woods if we are to avert great |
damage and severe losses during the
danger period that now exists in our |
woodlands.” '
The principal danger areas are inl
north Georgia, where some areas!
are now in the fifth week without a
rain, and as a precautionary meas
ure, heavy fire suppression equip
ment of the Commission has been
moved into this part of the state,
Reports from County Forestry Units
show that a number of fires have
been reported from scattered sec
tions in north Georgia during the
past week but the units have main
tained control of the fires.
“However, even in view of the
fact that we do have the fire situation |
under control,” said Del.oach, "the(
bone-dry, tinder-like woods, coupled
with the high winds we are now hav
ing, create a danger from which the
situation can become critical, within
the matter of even a few hours. |
The State Forester also cautioned
that pulpwooders and lumhering
crews and others working ip the
woods must be extremely careful to
avoid disastrous fires, and that all
persons In or near the woods should
give aid in fighting any fires they
see. -
“Georgia's 132 County Forestry
Units are on constant alert against
fires,” and are prepared to wage a
full-scale battle on wildfires,” but
public support in effective fire pre
vention is urgently needed now.

RING BROS. CIRCUS
COMING HERE ON
SAT’DAY,NOV. 14
~ The wild animals, the clowns, and
the red wagons are coming!
This announcement is hailgd with
delight by the juvenile element, while
some of the “Older Boys” are al
ready looking around for their
neighbors’ nephews and nieces. They
are saying they will probably have
to go and carry the children to see
the animals, but deep down in their
hearts, they know they would not
miss the big circus if there was not
a small boy or girl within a thou
sand miles on Circus Day.
Many new and novel features will
be seen in this u&e}ur'l program of
RING BROS, CIRCUS. Foremost of
these will be the Swanson Family of
Acrobats, Tumblers, and Jugglers;
Diana Wilson anda Lili La Vaughn,
daring and intrepid aerialist; Luey
Richards dancing and juggling, bare
footed on the semi-slack wire, with
out the aid of any balancing appur
‘tenances; Beryl Hazaelwood, famous
contortionist, direct from the Pal
ladium, in London, England, first
time ever in America; the Famous
‘De Kohl Troupe of Acrobats, Aerial
ists and Tumblers; Mary Martin,
Estrellita, and Serena, skill, grace
and endurance on the lofty trapeze,
and the feature aerialist, dainty Miss
DeLisa, head-and-chair balanacing
marvel on the flying trapeze.
The clown contingm is a large
one, headed by Slick Wilson, and they
promise to uncork the latest in gags
'and buffoonery to provoke merri
'ment among the children of all ages.
i There will be two performances
of RING BROS. CIRCUS in Blakely,
at 2:15 and 8:15 p. m., on Saturday,
November 14. Doors open an hour

Cravey Announces
9% Slash In
‘ Auto Insurance
P Atlanta, Ga.—Annual savings to
Georgia policyholders of approxi
‘nuly $2,665.01 are expected to
result from adjusted rates and pre
‘miums for automobile fire, theft,
imm and collision insur
ance for private passenger and com
mercial cars have been announced by
Insurance Commissioner Zack D.
Cravey. He said the changes will
become effective November 2, 1953,
for those companies which are mem
bers or subscribers to the National
Automobile Underwriters Associa
tion. These include the majority of
companies writing this class of in
surance in Georgia.
The cuts will approximate 9 per
cent, Mr, Cravey said.
For the first time, the entire
state will be placed on one rate lev
el for comprehensive coverage, thus
eliminating any territorial differen
tials in comprehensive levels. In
cluded also in these changes was
the establishment of three collision
classifications ifnstead of two clami
fications, which had formerly been
used. The new classifications are
based on the use of the wvehicle and
the age of the driver and it is felt
will result in & more equitable distri
bution of premiums.
“I am especially pleased to an
nounce these reductions,” Commis
sioner Cravey sald, “since they were
brought about by the experience of
the companies concerned and refleet
the improved cooperation of the
driving public in reducing fire and
theft and collision losses, In thank
ing our motorists let me urge them
to maintain this fine coperation with
ranewed offorts to eliminate acel
