HERE SATURDAY
The blare of bands, toot of cal
liopes, and roar of caged animals will
be heurd here Saturday, when the
RING BROS. Circus presents ils
colorful show.
Lumbering elephants, cumbersome
camels, audads, prancing ponies, com
ical clowns, pretty girls, dancing
horses, and the smallest performing
baby elephant in America today will
be seen in two shows that day, when
the perfoms:;n begin at 2:15 and
8:15 p. m, rs to the big show
will open promptly at 1 p, m, and

Among the exciting acts carried
with the Big Show this year are the
Swanson Family of Acrobats, Tum
blers, and foot-jugglers, first time
ever presented to an American aud
jence. Also with the Big Show this
season is dainty little Miss Delisa,
upside<down head-balancing star on
the flying trapeze. Other top notch
acts on the program are the famous
De Kohl Troupe of Acrobats, Tum
bhlers and Jugglers, America’s own
troupe of talented performers; Miss
Bery! Hazelwood, famous Contortion
ist, coming here direct from the
Pallsdium in London, England, first
time ever in America; Ring Bros,
Aerial Ballet, presenting preity
girls, exhibiting skill and endurance
on the Spanish webs and swinging
ladders; Miss Luey Richards, only
lady to balance and juggle on the
semislack wire, without the aid of
any balancing appurtenances, and
barefooted; Susie-Q, world’s most
talented pachyderm, trained by Capt.
Peabody, presenting many seemingly
impossible tricks,
Educated canines, especially to de
light the little folk, and Ring Bros.
Troupe of Comical Clowns are to be
seen, and they promise to uncork
many new and novel gags, to pro
voke mirth and merriment for the
delight of the children of all ages,
The Circus is sponsored this year
by V. F. W. Post 52569, Tickets can
be secured now st reduced rates from
all members of that organization.
Blakely FHA Girls
Win Recognition At
District Meeting
Forty mirls and adults represent
ing the Blakely chapter of Future
Homemakers of Aneri;;l attended
the annual fall Distret FHA Meecting
in Vienna last Saturday. Alice
Batchelor, State Vice President, pre
sided with grace and poise over the
meeting, at which about 500 were
present.
The Blakely group opened the
meeting by giving the impressive
presentation of colors, Taking part

Blakely chapter tied for Ist place
with the Unadilla chapter,
Dorothy Williams and Orita
Hayves registered for the Blakely
Eroun
A fashion show was another out
stand ng event of the day. One girl
from ecach chapter modeled a gar
ment she had made. Eunice White
reprecented the Blakely group in an
attractive gray corduroy dress with

ments during the show, which was
narrated by M. Bernice MeCullar,

~ The Blakely-Union High School
‘will present two one-act plays in the
school auditorium on Thursday
night, November 19, at 8 o’clock.
These are ‘“Sunday’s Child” and
“Sorry, Wrong Number.”
These plays will be judged and
one selected to represent Blakely-
Union in the Second District High
School Meet to be held at Quitman
the following Tuesday, November 24,
Both plays are good and enter

DAMAGE SUIT BACKFIRES;
DEFENDANT GETS AWARD
! Miami, Fla.—A damage suit back
fired here when a {‘ury awarded a
$50,000 verdict to the woman named
as defendant in the original action,
The suit grew out of a traffic ac
cident on March 29, A car driven
by Mrs, Marjorie C, Carraway col
fided with a vehicle carrying Charles
err,
* Kerr, represented by the law firm
of Nichohls, Gaither, Green, Frates
and Beckham filed suit against Mrs.
Carraway. As the trial got under
way, Mrs. Carraway, represented by
Attorney Robert Undewood, filed
a counter-claim,
The jury returned a verdict in
favor of Mrs, Carraway, awarding
her $50,000 damages.
Court observers said it was “ex
tremely unusual’ for a counter
claimant to win a verdict,
