BY VISION MEN
Dear Mr. Santa Claus: You are a
mighty kind old gentleman, but for
Pete's sake, please don’t bring Junior
aBB gun this Christmas. Brighten
his heart with a Jack-in-the-Box in
stead.
You see, no matter what Junior
says, it just isn't safe. - There are
countless little ones over this great
country of ours who won't be able
to see you this Christmas—just be
cause the BB gun you brought cost
their eyesight.
That also goes for such things as
firecrackers, bows and arrows, dart
sets, to name a few. They are all
threats,to Junior's precious eyesight.
SO, no matter what he is saying in
his letters to you, give him a break
and pass up the hardware mentioned
above, won't you?

“THY KINGDOM COME"
Lesson for December 27: Matthew
6:9.10; 28:16-20; John 17:18.21;
Acts 1:6.8; Revelation 11:15b.
Golden Text: Revelation 11:15,
The first passage of the lesson text
is a part of the Lord’s Prayer and
includes the address and petitions
that refer to the kingdom. In these
petitions we find the substance of all
prayer—“ Thy kngdom come and thy
will be done.” They commit one
who prays to all the work of the
kingdom and bring him into a coven
ant with God to do his will,
In the five last verses of Matthew
we see Jesus with the disciples just
before his ascension. Then we hear
his last command: “Go ye." They
were to make disciples of all nations,
set up the kingdom.
In what has been called the “high
priestly prayer” of Jesus just before
be went into the garden of Geth
semane, he prayed that his disciples
might be one in him and witness to
the world that Jesus was sent of
God.
After the resurrection, the disci
ples asked Jesus if he would at that
time restore the kingdom to Israel
There was some thought, no doubt,
of the earthly kingdom. Jesus told
them it was not for them to know the
times and the seasons. But they
would receive power after the Holy
Ghost had come upon them. And not
many days thereafter the Holy
Ghost came upon them and prepared
them to go forth te turn the world
upride down. Finally, we read in
Revelation that the kingdoms of the
world will become the kingdoms of
the Lord and his Christ.

Eskimos Use Glasses
The Eskimos invented their own
goggles to keep out snow glare, sci
entists report. These ‘‘glasses’” are
made of wood or bone with narrow
slits for visien. Ever since the Ca
nadian government began making
family allowances to the Eskimos,
however, these natives of the frozen
north have been using part of their
new purchasing power to buy manu

Why Window Panes Crack
*Lack of putty and paint on the
frames of windows may cause
cracked glass. Moisture absorbed by
unprotected frames during heavy
rainfalls causes swelling of the
wood. The resulting pressure on the
glass often cracks it.
f Spray Guns Helpful
~ The spray gun is now available in
' small models and simplified form
for home use. In addition to being
useful for large areas, they are
handy for painting radiators, hard
to-reach spots, indoor and outdoor
furniture.
“Pumpkin Pine”
As a furniture wood, pine has
been gaining increasing favor. Many
pine pieces are being finished to
simulate antique or Early American
furniture. One of these finishes,
known as “pumpkin pine” is a mel
low yellow color. One way of obtain
ing this finish is to apply a blend
of orange shellac and light mahog
any spirit stain. A final coat of
straight orange shellac is m
before the finished surface is
with 4/0 steel wocl and waved to a
dull lustre.
Queer Taste
Mrs. Sarah A. Swope of Lancas
ter, Pa., celebrating her 100th birth
day, nibbled her daily ice-cream
cone and explained: “I really don't
like ice cream. | just eat it for the
cone.”
