— THE—
— 16:16
1 John 5:4 reads, “Beloved, believe not every spirit,
but try these spirits whether they are of God: because
many false prophets are gone out into the world.” Nine
teen hundred years later that command still holds, yet
most of us accept without question as being the truth the
word of a man, whether he is a preacher, minister, evan
gelist, pastor, or some official of a denomination. Take
no man’s word for anything regarding your salvation, but
study God’s word. The Bible alone can tell you what you
must do to be saved. Jesus Christ himself has said in
John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth
shall make you free. Won't you learn it?

STUDY INSURANCE
INVESTMENTS, IS
CRAVEY'S ADVICE
Atlanta, Ga.—Declaring that his de
partment had no authority to act as
an investment counselor, .Insurance
Commissioner Zack D. Cravey today
answered the many queries being re
ceived by persons contemplating stock
buying in new insurance companies, 1
“This is a matter that each indivld-l
ual must determine for himself,” he
stated. “The only suggestion I have
to make is that before investing in the
stock of a new company, whether in
surance or otherwise, the individual
should make a thorough investigation
to determine the competence, charac
ter and trustworthiness of those or
ganizing and promoting the company,
and then decide whether the insur
ance field is a good one in which to
invest at the time.”
The Commissioner also stated that
he was sure there existed no state
law which guaranteed to an investor
in insurance company stock that he
would be reimbursed in the ev.ent the
company become financially unstable.|
Citing life insurance companies spe
cifically, he said that in order to!
qualify for a license to engage in the
insurance business they were required
to deposit with the Treasurer of the
State of Georgia for the protection of
policyholders securities valued at not
less than SIOO,OOO.
Mr. Cravey also called attention to
several provisions of the Georgia lawl
laffecting the formation of new insur
lance companies,
[ The Georgia Insurance Code, he
I pointed out, provides that any num
!ber of persons not less than five may
form a company by complying with
Icertain statutory provisions.

’that as Insurance Commissioner, for

“Teachers interested in integrating

provide many of the materials which
may be required in this project.” ‘
The Ranger reported school bibliog

be obtained from the Early County
Forest Unit, and they contain a large
list of teaching aids which’can be or

organization publishing them.
“These aids,” according to Ranger
Perkins, “include pamphlets, posters,
booklets, and motion picture films
dealing with all phases of forestry
and forest conservation. Complete in
formation is given in the bibliograph

suited for various age groups and
classroom groups.” |
The County Forestry Unit, in addi

The presidential election now un
derway will likely be the most hard
fought in recent political history.
Aside from the issues in this cam
paign, the circumstances surrounding
the election and the personalities of
the four principals will play an im
portant part in the outcome.
Here are some of these circum
stances: On the Democratic side, the
party has a new unity seldom attain
ed in the Democratic ranks in a na
tional election; for some reason the
open convention of the party at Chi
cago installed a tremendous will to
win among party leaders as the “un
der dogs” in a race where they must
come from behind to win. No one will
seriously question the ability of either
Adlai Stevenson, the presidential nom
inee, or Senator Estes Kefauver, the
vice presidential nominee, as vote
getters.
Their nomination was fortunate for
the Democratic party, for one com
plements the other—Stevenson, the
brilliant orator, thoroughly versed in
governmental affairs, able, well-known
throughout the world, a seasoned
campaigner, and as a loser in 1952
polling more votes than any other
presidential candidate before that
time. Kefauver, also able and thor
oughly versed in government, but of
the home-spun type, with a tremen
dous appeal to the rural and small
town voters, and also a seasoned cam
paigner, well and favorably known.
On the Republican side there is
President Eisenhower’'s tremendous
popularity with all segments of the
voting population.
Also, President Eisenhower's run
ning mate is a young man who is
well liked in the rank and file of the
GOP. He is an able and seasoned cam
paigner, His role in government has
become more and more important
during recent months.
There are many observers who be
lieve Mr. Nixon's role in government
will become even more important as
time goes on because he is the GOP's
logical candidate for 1960.
~ Politically, Mr. Nixon stands to the
right of Mr. Eisenhower. But as the
Wall Street Journal says: “Mr. Nixon
looks like the heir to the next GOP
presidential nomination.”
This could be one of the circum
stances which will play an important
role in this election.
There are indications also that
President Eisenhower may step up his
icampaign program in the light of the
Maine election.
