cus. Maternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Idus Brownlee, Blakely.
Friends of Nelson Hattaway will be
pleased to know that the cast was re
moved from his injured leg this past
week, but he must continue to use
crutches for several weeks. Nelson was
injured during football practice on
August 24 at VMI, Lexington, Va.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holt Stokes an
nounce the birth of a son, Mitchell
Henry, October 10, Baxley Clinic.
Mrs. Stokes is the former Miriam
Culbertson, of Winterville, Ga.
Friends in Early county will be in
terested to learn that Mrs. Lelia Mid
dleton, formerly of this county, ob
served her 90th birthday on Septem
ber 27 at the home of her daughter,
Miss Ida Middleton. with whom she
lives in DeLand, Fla.
Mrs. Cleve Porter arrived home this
week to stay with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. O. F. Thompson, while her
husband, Ensign Porter is on a tour of
duty with the U, S. Navy. Ensign and
Mrs. Porter have been living in Brook- |
lyn, N. Y., and Virginia Beach, Va.
Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Bud Justice celebrated
their 25th wedding anniversary Sun
day, October 7, by entertaining guests
with Open House at their home in
the Lucile community.
Approximately 75 guests were serv
ed cake and punch by Misses Carolyn
Justice, Patrice Cooper and Judy
Cooper.
Numerous gifts of china and silver
were received.
CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY
Miss Peggy Swann, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. R. L. Swann, was feted at a
birthday party at the home of her
parents Saturday agfterncon from 3
to 5 o'clock. The three year old Miss
had a three tiered cake to decorate
the table. Each of her little friends
had individual cakes and ice cream,

Ben Thomas, Angela Jones, Chandra
Pippin, Lisa and Mike Still, Clay
Bridges, Denise Glass, and Jane Lo
mack,

Officers Elected
The Freshman Class of the Blakely
High School held their {first class
meeting recently following chapel.
Mrs. Edward Morton and Mre, Donald
Bowman were in charge of the mizet
ing. Class officers, class beauty, and
class favorites were elected. They are
as follows:
