turned to Rockville, Ind., after spend
ing a few days with relatives,

Mr. Sid Jones and Mr, Homer Bush
attended the Mississippi Southern-
North Carolina State football game in
Mobile, Alabama, Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Moody and Mrs.
T. T. Swann attended the wedding of
Margaret Moody of Newnan at Wash
ington, D. C,, this past week end.
Mr. Murray Fain has been under
going ireatment at Baxley Clinic for
several days.
Rev. T. B. Mellette is reported to be
improving at a local clinic where he
has been undergoing treatment.
Miss Judy Cox a student at Brenau
College, Gainesville, spent the week
end here with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. A. Cox.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vinson, of Miami,
spent the past week here with Mr.
Vinson's mother, Mrs. J. W. Vinson.
Glenn Farr and Frank Pickle, stu
dents at North Georgia College, spent
the week end with home folks.
Misses Ann and Annette Storey,
who attend Tift College. Forsyth spent
the week end with their parents Rev.
and Mrs. W. E, Storey.
Mrs. J. G. Standifer was taken to
the diagnostic Clinic of Emory Univer
sity in Atlanta last Friday for exami
nation and treatment.
Mrs. A. C. Spence is spending some
time in Cochran with her daughter,
Mrs. Ted Griner.
Mr. and Mrs. Luther Warrick, 111, of
Marietta, Ga., spent the week end
with Mr. and Mrs. Luther Warrick
and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tinney.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard George of
Blairsville Ga. spent several days here
the past week coming to visit Mr.
George’s mother Mrs. Roy Morgan,
who thas been quite ill and undergoing
treatment in a Cuthbert hospital.
Mr: and Mrs. C. J. Armstrong re
turned home Friday after having
spent several weeks with Mr. and
Mrs. Ernest Waller at Bradenton,
Fla. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Kersey and
baby son, Mark, at Lake Worth, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Owen and son,
Rudy, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack White,
spent the week end in Mobile, where
they attended the North Carolina
State-Mississippi Southern University
football game. Joe Owen and Jack
White are members of the Mississippi
team, which won the game 30-0.
On Tuesday October 16, 47 members
of the Junior Class took the PSAT
Examination. These tests are given on
this date only to Junior Class students
all over the United States. The PSAT
tests, Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude
Test, are preliminary to the SAT.
Scholastic Aptitude Test, given to high
school seniors before entering col
lege. These SAT tests are reguired be
fore a hich school eraduate can enter
any college. The tests were divided
into 2 groups: verbal and mathematics
each section lasting 1 hour.

Meeting Held
Ralph Fudge, president, opened the
meeting. An inspiring devotion was
given by Janie Temples.
Milton White, secretary, called the
roll. Angeline Jarrett gave the treas
urer's report.
June Allen, vice-president, and in
charge of club programs, presented
a program based on teacher's exper
iences in the class room: on the pro
gram were Angeline Jarrett, Mary
Jane Owen, Susan Gilbert, Jimmy
Crowdis, and Milton White,
Names of persons going to G. E. A,
Day October 31 in Albany were taken.
The meeting was adjourned.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenney Millard Ar
nold of Blakely, Ga., announce then
engagement of their daughter, Betty,
to Ist Lieutenant Thomas Meredith
Wolfrom, 751 Allen Street, Syracuse,
New York.
Miss Arnold attended Troy State Col
lege in Troy, Ala. She is the former
Queen of the National Rattlesnake
Rodeo in Chipley, Florida, and is now
the current “Miss Alabama Education
Association” chosen at Panama City,
Florida.
Li. Wolfrom attended Nottingham
High School,’ and received his B. S.
degree in Geology from Syracuse Uni
versity in 1959. He is affiliated with
Pei Upsilon social fraternity. At pres
ent he is assigned to the Army Avia
tion School Regiment, Fort Rucker,
Alabama.
The wedding is to take place in the
Blakely Baptist Church on Friday, No
vember 23, at seven o'clock.
COSBY-OWEN
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cosby, of Ameri
cus, Georgia, announce the engage
ment of their daughter, Jodene, to
Walzo Dewitt Owens, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Walzo Owens, of Auburn, Ala.
The bride-elect graduated from
Americus High School. She was a
member of Anchor Club, Tri-di-Y;
Junior Honor Society, Laiin Club,
F. T. A, F. H A, and Annual Staff.
She graduated from Georgia South
western College and was a member
of A. S. V. sorority, Y. W. A, Danc
ing Club, Sou'weter staff and was se
lected as Hurricane Honey and elected
as Beauty. At present she is employed
by the Muscigee County Board of
Education. g
Mr. Owens graduated from Talla
poosa high school, Tallapoosa, Ga.,
where he was a member and captain
of the varsity football team, captain
of the basketball team, member of
the baseball and “T” Club. He attend
ed Auburn University and was a mem
ber of the Freshman Football team.
He is presently employed by an in
surance concern in Phenix City.
A November wedding is planned.

Seventh Grade 4-H Club
The Seventh Grade 4-H Club met
Twesday in Mrs. Session’s room. Offi
cers for the year elected were Mary
Brown, president; Rhonda Bush, girl's
vice-president; Franklin Mulkey,
boy’s vice-president; Molly Kennedy,
secretary; Jimmy Barksdale, report
er; James Clark, parliamentarian; and
Song Leaders, Ramelle Dußose and
Brenda Rollins.
County Agent Judson Cooper lead
in a discussion of the duties of the
officers elected, each officers’ duties
were discussed individually.
The next meeting will be November
27. Those interesied in joining 4-H,
who are in .the Sevenih Grade, may
join at that time.

Mr. and Mrs. V. A. Bowen, of Jakin,
announce the engagement of their
daughter, Betty Sue, to Jerry Miller,
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Miller, also
of Jakin. The wedding will take place,
on October 28th at 3:00 P. M., at the
Springfield Missionary Baptist Church.
The Reverend Ray Gould will offi-l
ciate. No invitations will be sent, all
friends and relatives of the couple are
invited.
Miss Bowen is a graduate of Jakin
High School and is presently employed
as a secretary at Southern Land, Tim
ber and Pulp Corporation. Mr. Miller
is also a graduate of Jakin High School.
The couple will reside in Jakin, where ‘
the groom is engaged in farming with
his father. ‘

Whitehead, to Ensign Dwight Moody,
Jr., United States Navy, son of Mr. and

Florida.
Miss Whitehead is the sister of Ern
est Pace Whitehead, Jr., and James‘l
Grist Whitehead. Ensign Plyler is the
brother of Joseph Philip Plyier. ‘

‘now stationed at Whiting Field, Milton, |

Junior Woman’s Club ‘
Holds October Meeting
Members of the Blakely Junior Wo
man’s Club enjoyed a program pre
sented by Mrs. George Nelson at their
regular meeting October 3, 1962, at
the club house. |
Mrs. Nelson showed slides which
she took at the United Nations Build
ing while she was on a trip to New
York.
During the business meeting, pre
sided over by Mrs. Bruce Houston,
president, the club voted to give
$25.00 to the Regional Library Fund.
Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs.
Wayne Foster and Mrs. Jimmy Acree.
