Saturday from Emory University
Hospital in Atlanta. She is reported as
convalescing very nicely.

Mrs. Mary Timmons and Miss Betty
Timmons spent the week end in Mill
edgeville with Mrs. Timmons' daugh
ter, Mrs. W. K. Knight, and to make
the acquaintance of her new grand
daughter, Natalee Ann Knight, who
was born Wednesday, October 24.
Mr. John Wade Sheppard, of Green
wich, Conn., was a business visitor in
Blakely the past week.
Mrs. Richard H. Cocke, of Elander
City, Ala, was the week end guests
of Mrs Joanna S. Dean and family.
Mrs. R. L. Whitehurst, Miss Judy
Whitehurst, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Turner, of Atlanta, spent the week
end in Blakely with relatives.

Accepted Masons at their beautiful
new Hall in Dawson last Monday
night. The occasion was the presenta
tion of a 50-year Service Award and
Citation to Mr. Henrv Rauch from the
Grand Lodge of Georgia, Dr. Standifer
Past Grand Master, representing the
Grand Master, made the presentation.

The Blakely Touchdown Club met
Tuesday night at the high school cafe
teria in the final mceting of the year.

The Frceman Home Demonstration
Club held its regular monthly meet
ing October 22 at the home of Mrs.

The m2eting was called to order b:-
the president, Mrs. Floyd Tedde:.
We sang the club song and Mrs. Mc-
Gowan gave an inspiring devotional
and prayer.
Minutes were read and approved
and treasurer’s report given. The roll
was called with 15 members present.
In the business part of the meeting,
letters were read and at this time
the president presented the check that
we received from our exhibit at the
fair. This was one of the blue rib
bon booths and we were very proud
of it.
At the meeting new officers were'
elected for the coming year. They are
President. Mrs. John Lee Jones, vice
president, Mrs. Joe Bowman; Secre
tary and treasurer, Mrs. Guy White;
reporter, Mrs. Lewis Jones,
During the recreation period, Mrs.
Gay and Mrs. Theo Williams served
delicious refreshments. The surprise
gift was won by Mrs. Gay. Mrs. Guy
White and Mrs. Charlie Roberson won
the game.
The meeting was then adjourned.

i Installation Service
: Held Recently
Officers of the W. M. S. were in
stalled recently at the evening wor
ship services at the Blakely Baptist
Church. The pastor, the Rev.”W. E.
Storey, conducted the installation
service.
The Y. W. A. girls were ushers for
the occasion, wearing dresses typical
of the era seventy-five years ago,
when the W. M. U. was organized.
The officers installed will serve dur
ing the anniversary year, commem
orating 75 years of “Laborers to-ge
ther with God” for women in the
Baptist Churches.
The Junior choir presented a spe
cial song, “We've a Story to Tell.”
W. M. S. officers for the 1962-1963

Leary Man Killed
In Freak Accident
Everitt Todd. 23, of Leary was killed
instantly Monday afiernoon, when he
was caught between a trailer body
and a loading shoot, while loading
some cattle. Todd was an employee of
Jordan Farms.
He was a native of Calhoun Ciuty
and the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
Todd. He is survived by his wife, par
ents and four brothers and five sisters.
Funera] services were held Wednes
day afternocon in the Salem Church,
the Rev. Don Roberts officiating. In
terment was in the Salem cemetery,
Bryan Funeral Home. of Blakely in
charge of arrangements.
