By EARL “TIGE” PICKLE
Herman E. Talmadge, our
distinguished junior senator,
honored Early county with a
short visit Monday. Senator Tal
madge was in this section look
ing over the cattle industry. He
is a ranking membe rof the pow
erful agriculture committee, and
it was a pleasure to have him in
Early county viewing our ac
complishments, and also taking
a look at our needs. He hopes
to return to Early later in the
year, seeking relaxation from
his duties as a busy member of
the Senate, to shoot a few quail.

Tuck Swann, our genial sher
iff, and a big booster of both
the Bobcats and of our paper
mill, says its about a tie between
the Bobcats and the paper mill
as to which is bringing our coun
ty the greater amount of good
publicity. And I might add that
both are going full blast right
now.
Here is the way Charlie Rob
erts, Constitution prep editor,
rates the Class B teams this
week:
Ae T
1. Blakely 9 0 0
2. Morgan Co. .8 0
3. Rockdale Co. 29 )
4. Bradwell 1. s 9 1
5. Washington-Wilkes 7 2 0
6. Hawkinsville 5.0 F -1
7. Manchester S : 9
8. Jackson S 3 1
9. Trion 6 4 0
10. Rabun Co. T 3 1
The big issue before Coach
Ray Knight and his Bobcats
now is to take Marianna, Fla.,
this week end and then knock‘
off those lads from Camden
County in the playoff on the fol
lowing Friday night. I firmly
believe, that if our Bobecats keep
up their desire, that they will be
sitting u-on the throne of the
Class B champs come December
1. Luck seems to be with us, too,
as Principal Frank Buckner and
Coach Ray Knight won the toss
in Tifton Monday, thereby get
ting the Region 1-B champion
ship game in Blakely on Novem
ber 16. Let’s show our visitors
we are delighted to have them
in Blakely. Let’s roll out the old
Blakely hospitality and put our
best foot forward. Let’s show
them a big time in every way
except to let them win the game.
* B sk
Mr. Connie White, my friend
of long standing and now in his
84th year, witnessed his first
football game the past Friday
night. Mr. White’s late interest
is because o fthe fact that he has
two great-grandsons — Andy
and Milton White—playing on
the team. Of course, Mr. White,
not knowing anything about the
game, didn’t understand what it
was all about, but nevertheless
enjoyed it very much, but said
he doesn’t know yet, what the
fight was all about and who
started it. They weren't fight
ing, Mr. White. That’s the way it
is all the time.
