Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wiley of Jeffer
son Ave, announce the birth of a
daughter, Tammy Louise, born Fri
day, November 9, at Baxley Clinic.
T B. Kenney was admitted to Pat
terson Monday morning. Mr. Kenny
suffered a stroke Sunday afternoon at
his home.
William Monfort, Jr., U. S. Airforce,
stationed at Valdosta, spent the week
end with his mother, Mrs. W. R. Mon
fort and family.
Mrs. Graham Murray has returned
home from a two weeks visit with
friends in Marianna, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Hewitt had as
their guests the past week end, Mrs.
HeWitt's sister, Mrs. Leo 'Miz, of Cor
dele, Ga.
Mr. and Mrs. D. H. McDowell had
as their guests last week, Mrs. Wil
liam Park, of St. Augustine, Fla. Mrs.
Park is Mrs. McDowell's sister-in-law.
Jimmy Love, U. S. Air Force, is
visiting his mother and family, Mr.
and Mrs. John Tinsley.
Miss Duane Mellette was home this
week end and had as her guest Miss
Nancy Elton, of Hawkinsville.

week end visiting friends and rela
tives. Mr. Shaw is from Lakeland, Fla.

Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Oliver an
nounce the birth of a baby daughter,
at Baxley Clinic, Monday, November
12th,
Miss Lois Rupe, who is attending
St. Luke's Nursing School in Cleve
land, Ohio. was in a two car accident
Friday night and friends will be in
terested to learn that she and her
companion, Alex Colley, were not ser
iously injured. The accident occured
on Highway 21, south of Cleveland
when a young lady ran a stop sign
and pulled out in front of Mr. Colley's
car,
The D. A. R. will meet at the home
of Mrs. R. C. Singletary, Sr., on
Thursday (today) afternoon at 3:30
p. m.
CORRECTION
In listing the Good Citizens at
Blakely High School the past week,
the name of Miss Penny Willis was
listed as being the daughter of Mr, and
Mrs. Linton Willis, and should have
been listed as the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. W. V. Willis.
American Education Week
At Damascus School
American Education Week is being
observed in the Damascus School this
week. The school will have Open
House on Friday, November 16. Par
ents are invited to visit the school,
visit the classrooms where their chil
dren are being taught and observe the
methods in use in teaching. |
Visitors are invited to have lunch
in the lunchroom, the menu will cen
%ar around turkey and dressing, <
Francis Sante, secretary of the Don
alsonville Chamber of Commerce was
guest speaker at a Government Class
meeting at Blakely High School. Mr,
Sante spcke on Civil Defense and
was invited to meet wich the high
school students, by Mrs. Mary Jane
Hammack, Director of Civil Defense
in Early County.
. Mr. Lloyd George of Blakely, has
been elected moderator of the Bethel
Baptist Association, of which Mr.
lGeorge’s home church, the Blakely
’Baptist. is a member for the coming
year.
! Miss Bina Loyless, of College Park,
‘spent the week end here with her
!aunt. Mrs. D. M. Pearl, who accom
panied her home {or a visit.
Mrs. George Pickle is spending
some time in Atlanta with Mr. and
Mrs. C. E. Gunthorpe, who spent a
short while here Sunday.
Mrs. L. J. Genova and son, Robin
Seago, and daughter, Miss Nan Seago,
a student at Georgia State, Atlanta,
have returned home after visiting
their mother and grandmother, Mrs.
R. R. McLendon, Sr.
Mrs. Mary Jane Hammack has been
named President-Elect of the Visiting
Teachers Association at the State Con
‘erence, hlde at Radium Springs, Al
bany, the past week end.

day's paper, there is an error in the
Arlington district vote. It should be
21 for and 40 against, rather than 21
lfor and 0 against.
