Arlington Girl {
Dies In Auto

Crash Sunday

Eunice Gloria Timmons, age 19, the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Tim
mons, of RFD 2, Arlington, was killed
in an auto crash near Jacksonville,
Sunday night about 10 o'clock. The
young lady, accompanied by her cou
sin, another young girl who was driv
ing and not seriously injured, was
returning from a week end visit with
relatives at Jacksonville, Fla,
Both were students at Valdosta
State and were returning to school.
Miss Timmons was born at Arling
ton and was a member of the Milford
Baptist Church in Baker County,
where her funeral was held Tuesday
afternoon, 4 o'clock, Officiating minis-‘
ters were the Rev. Paul Irwin and the‘
Rev. Jack Alderman. Interment fol-{
lowed in the Christ cemetery in Ba-1
ker County, with Bryan Funeral
Home in charge and the following
gserving as pall-bearers: Harvey Hat
cher, Grady Lee, Wyatt Brooks, Paul
Smith, Tke Newberry, Jr., Billy New
berry.
Also surviving is a sister. Shirley
Timmons,

Labor Inventory To
Be Conducted In Early
Beginning at 9:30 a. m., December
10th, the Early County labor force will
undergo comprehensive inventorying
conducted by a team of Technicians
from the Georgia Department of La
bor.
Mr, NeSmith informed the group
that Early county's selection for in
ventory and study was due primarily
to the areas anticipated industrial
growth, NeSmith further informed
the local group that the labor survey
would be a most comprehensive one,
involving considerable time and ef
fort by all concerned. Actual personal
interviews and work applications will
be taken on each person applying.
Applicants will be occupationally
grouped, and counseled if needed. Ap
titude tests will be administered to
those applicants with little or no work
experience in determining their best
potential,
Information derived from this labor
inventory of Early county, will be in
valuable to present to present and
prospective industries.
The local committee urges full par
ticipation. Every unemployed, partial
ly unemployed or under-employed
person in the area should register
with this group at the Early county
courthouse during the week beginning
December 10 and ending December 14,
The future industrial growth of the
area depends on the availability of
!our working force.

Revenue Agent
Dies In City
Court Monday
Wayne E. Gordy, about 63 years of
age. died while testifying in City
Court here Monday afternoon. Mr.
Gordy, a veteran agent with alcho
lic tax unit of the State Department of
Revenue, sufferd a heart attack while
sitting in the witness chair giving
testimony in a liquor case. A local
doctor was summoned to the court
room, but Mr. Gordy was pronounced
iead upon arrival at Baxley Clinic.
Attendants from Bryan Funeral Home
had administered artificial respiration
before the doctor arrived. The agent
was from Louvale, near Lumpkin, Ga.
INFANT DIES
The infant child of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Gariel Paul, of Morgan, died
a few hours after birth in the Arling
ton hospital on Thursday, Novem
ber 14. Graveside services, with Bryan
L Funeral Home in charge, were held on
Friday at the New Light Cemetery,
i Morgan.
Southside Mission
To Become Church
The Southside Baptist Mission, lo
cated at the corner of South Church
and Boulevard, will officially become
the Southside Bap'ist Church Sunday
afternoon at 3 o'clock, the pastor, the
i Rev. Vernon T. Vaughan has announc
ed. Rev. W, E. Storey will be in charge
of the dedication and the Rev. G. L.
Brooks will deliver the sermon. The
Rev. Mr. Vaughan urges the public to
attend.
Thanksgiving Rally
Colomokee Church
The Rev. Lee Wilson announced that
Sunday, November 25, will be Thanks
giving Rally Day. Special services will
be conducted by the Rev. G. L. Brooks
at 11 a. m. Sunday School will be held
at 10:00 o'clock. Dinner wil be served
at noon and everybody is invited to
come and bring a basket lunch.
Mrs. Carl Fryer
Dies Here Tuesday
After Short lliness
Mrs. Rossie Smith Fryer, prominent
and well known Blakely lady, the
wife of Carl S. Fryer, Sr., died un
expectedly about 11 o'clock Tuesday
morning following an illnss of only
six days. Mrs. Fryer suffered a coro
nary attack on Wednesday of the past
week, and was undergoing treatment
in a local clinic. She was believed to
be some improved when came another
attack which proved fatal.
Mrs. Fryer was a member of a prom
inent Quincy, Florida family, and was
born there April 2, 1897, hence was 65
years of age. As a young girl she made
her part-iime home here with her
uncle and aunt, the late Dr. and Mrs.
J. H. Hand. While residing with Dr.
and Mrs. Hand she attended college
at Andrew College and later at
Blackstone, Virginia. She had lived
practically all her life in Blakely. She
was a member of the Blakely Metho
dist Church and the Daughters of the
American Revolution.
Funeral services were held Wed
nesday afternoon, November 21, at
3:30 o'clock in the Blakely Methodist
Church with the pastor, the Rev. Cecil
Wimberley officiating. Interment fol
lowed in the Blakely cemetery with

A sparkling fashion show was pre
sented by the girls in the second,
third and fourth year homemaking
classes in chapel Friday, November
16. The outfits which were made by
the girls in their homemaking classes
cluded fashions for school, sports,
church, dates and informal get to
gethers were modeled. Theme for the
fashion show was “Football and Fash
ions”, Judy Clark was narrator and
he music was provided by Mrs. J. O.
Brown. The girls participating in this
were:
