SOWEGA Fox Hunters
To Meet Here Today
The Southwest Georgia Fox Hunters
Association will gather in Blakely to
day (Thursday) for a meeting and
Hunt to last until Saturday. Bill Smith
of Blakely, an official of the associa
tion, announces that the bench show
and barbecue dinner will be held
Thursday night at the Legion Hall
Admission for the barbecue will be
SI.OO per ticket. The hunts will take
place Friday and Saturday morning,
the exact time and place to be an
nounced at the dinner tonight.
SCREWWORM
ERADICATION ‘
PROGRAM
Screwworms have been found in
Early county recently, so please be
on the lookout for this livestock des
t‘royer.
Anyone finding maggots in a wound
in livestock please take 10 specimen
from the wound immediately, put
them in a clean jar of fresh, clear
water and take them to your county
agent's office so they may be sent to
the state lab for positive identification.

month of November, 1962:
Temperature: Mean maximum, 65.9;
mean minimum, 435; mean, 58.7.
Maximum, 78 on the 17th. Minimum,
20 on the Gth.
Precipitation: Total, 5.10 inches.
Greatest amount in any 24-hour per
iod, 1.41 inches on’ the 30.
Miscellaneous: Number of days with
0.01 inches or more of rainfall, 7.
Frost on the 6th, 15th, 23rd, 27th. Fog
on the Bth, 17th, 20th. Thunder on the
12th. Unusually low barometric read
ing of 2959 inches on the 21st. The
2.38 inches of rain the last 2 days of
the month greatly relieved the
drought conditions.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
Members of the Westview WSCS
are busy working for their Christmas
bazaar which will be held Friday, De
cember 7, in the building, formerly
occupied by Keenan Auto Parts Co.,
on Court Square.
The hours will be from 1:30 p. m.
until 6:00 p. m, Among the iiems to
be on sae will be Christmas gi:ts,
decorations, stitchery, canned goods,
candies and good home-made cakes.
Proceeds from the bazaar will go
into the church building fund of the
Westview Methodist Cmrch.

UNION H. D. CLUB
The Union Home Demonstration
Club met at the community house on
November 27, with 12 members and 2
visitors present.
Mrs. John Hayes, the president,
called the meeting to order and we
sang the club song.
Mrs. Hayes gave an inspiring devo
tional in which everyone had a part.
The nominaiing committee felt this
would not be a good time to change
officers for the club. The majority
agreed, and so voted to retain the
same for another year. The club will
hold the Christmas Party December
19 at the community house.
Mrs. Hayes gave a demonstration
on Christmas decorations.
The club gave Mrs. Emma Sirmons
a shower. Her home was destroyed by
fire about a month ago.
The hostess, Mrs. Lester Cox, and
Mrs. Harvey Woolle, served delicious
cake and coffee.
FREEMAN HD NEWS
The Freeman Home Demonstration
Club held its monthly meeting No
vember 26, at the clubhouse.
The meeting was called to order by
the president, a'terwards the memberg
sang the club song. Mrs. Floyd Tedder
gave the devotional,
The minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved. The secre
tary and treasurer's report was given
by Mrs. Guy White and approved. The
roll was called with 15 members pre
sent. We had 2 visitors.
Our Christmas party was the main
topic of discussion. It is to be held
Tuesday afternoon, December 18, at
the clubhouse. We had 5 membcrs:
who were present at every meeting
this year. They were. Mrs. Joe Bow
man, Mrs. J. L. Jones, Mrs. Deck
Williams, Mrs. Floyd Tedder and Mrs.
Curtis Allen. These ladies will be pre
sented gifts at the party,
Mrs. Joe Bowman gave a demonstra
tion on Christmas decorations and
Mrs. Lewis Jones gave us an idea on
decorations for holidays.
Our recreation chairman, Mrs. Joe
Bowman, had a game for us which we
enjoyed, Mrs, Lester Moore won the
surprise package this month.
Our hostesses this month were Mrs.
Johnnie Lee White and Mrs. Harry
White. They were assisted by Mrs,
Charles Garrett. We were served deli
cious refreshments.
The meeting was adjourned.

Ida Lane To Stage
Show For Lions Club
Ladies’ Night Party
~ Ida Lane, the former Miss Eleanor
Loback, of Blakely, will stage the
Lions Club Ladies' Night Christmas
program, which will be held next
Tuesday night at the Town & Country
Club, President J. J. Hewitt has an
nounced. Miss Lane, vocalist, organist
and pianist, is a most versatile enter
tainer, and has just returned from a
successful engagement at a resort in
Fairbanks, Alaska. She has also ap
peared in cabarets and night clubs in
many of the nation’s show spots and
has proven a hit in all of them. Presi
dent Hewitt advised all Lions who are
planning to attend this party to make
their reservations today, as an over
flow crowd is expected. Lion “Bam”
Bridges is program chairman.
